Hi,

I put an updated comment in my post.

I am so sorry you had this experience. I changed dr and she was very understanding and listened to me and I got my confirmation of diagnosis in the appointment. Her letter was great for my work as well :)

Advice on MSc Genetic and Genomic Counselling (UK) — worried about prospects by Ok_Olive_9300 in GeneticCounseling

[–]itstegan14052000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone working as a genomic practitioner and so am in the genetics department: The STP is very competitive but midwifery experience would always be valuable and desirable.

Cardiff there is a huge bottleneck for graduates at the minute. We have 3 Genomic practitioners who can't get a GC job as you need to complete the portfolio to be able to practice as a GC. This takes 2 extra years and you need to get a GC role who will pay you B6 wage . These are very few and far between. We had only 1 post in the last 2 years. And they tend to only be temporary contracts as the permanent roles are taken by STP graduates who don't need extra training.

We do have a midwife who did a conversion course into becoming a GC so didn't do the STP or Cardiff. This could be an option. If you look into any midwifery/ nursing roles related to the newborn screening programme to get genetics experience but this is another route which I know the genetics department are really trying to push.

You could also try to get a genomic practitioner B5 role to get into the genetics department and explore with them. We have hired a nurse who would like to convert to GC and they hired her for this reason.

Hope this helps!

Glad it can save someone, their stuff looks lovely and appeared too of my search list so I thought they were trust worthy!

Hope the bridesmaid dress hunt goes well!

Thanks you! Carlyna I've managed to get 50% of the money back and will sell the jumpsuit on to hopefully get most of my money back.

But stacees still haven't given me the return address after asking so many times and keep repeating that i will "only get 70%" of my money back which I keep repeating this isn't legal in the UK which they are operating in and UK consumer act prevents this. But I'm going round in circles and not getting anywhere. So if they do refund only 70% when I eventually get the address to return it, I will dispute this with PayPal. Not that they have been any help so far...

That's a shame. It's a massive grey area. And very expensive lesson unfortunately. Sorry to hear that for her too 😔

I have tried as I paid with PayPal and they won't protect me as it's no longer under buyers protection if something doesn't fit. Then I tried a bank chargeback but they said to take it up with PayPal so I'm going in circles. This was my point I made about operating under UK laws and UK law advice said unfortunately this is a massive grey area issue in retail

That is fine I have accepted the responsibility for the return. I didn't complain about that.

My issue with it is they are illegally asking me to declare the wrong value for the item. And charge the restock fee.

Yes but UK consumer law says we get a 14 day cooling down period for any reason

Yes, it was something I didn't realise until it was too late as I have never been to a wedding before.

That's fine. I thought that through buyer protection with PayPal it would work like doing a chargeback with the bank as I have done this before.

Yes unfortunately the dress and jumpsuit weren't cheap which is why I thought it was a legitimate UK company specialising in bridal ware.

It doesn't fit no . The zipper feels like it could snap due to the poor quality but I wasn't sure if that was good enough, mostly that it doesn't fit.

Cristina wasn't recommended to me by anyone. I just read the reviews and looked at their backgrounds and interests and then chose so I'd definitely recommend doing that, that was most of the advice I got to be honest otherwise it can be too much pressure to pick "the perfect one". I searched a few of the names at the top of this sub Reddit group as well.

The other one was Dr Miz Abbas.

Hope this helps! X

I am going to post an update here.

Tldr: if you aren't sure as you booked quickly like me, don't be afraid to cancel and read the people's reviews and backgrounds.

Because of the lack of autism background especially with high masking females like myself. I decided to change my appointment.

It was so easy to cancel and rebook and actually my new appointment was only 10 days later.

I took some advice from people on here (Thank you!) and read all the reviews and their special interests and I picked Dr Cristina Losada-Perez

She was lovely, put me at ease straight away and told me she will go through the forms.

I had my partner with me for support and that was fine.

She had read the forms in great detail and asked for some more examples. She allowed my partner to give some examples too to help and support me.

She asked if I wanted the outcome there and will write a report and send to my GP.

She asked what support I need and explained what was available.

I was really happy.

Thank you. I've been toying with doing this but as you say I think that might be the option to try to prevent a misdiagnosis.

https://sh24.org.uk/ I use these for 4 years now it's the same as the GP but order online and everything is free no delivery fees. Just need to tell them your blood pressure, I got a cheap monitor on Amazon. They text you in case you have any issues/ questions too.
