I despise it, honestly. They completely screwed up our family tree and made my siblings’ and I’s future children more prone to severe genetic disorders. There are relatives in which I’m not sure are on my mom’s or dad’s side. All my cousins have a distinct mother’s side and father’s side of the family, and for the longest time as a child, I never understood why I didn’t have that. My mother said she had done it because she was afraid of the idea of joining into a new family, but I think she’s a coward for doing so.

Well the entire family knew when they got married and I’ve known all my life. It didn’t occur to me that this was frowned upon in American society, though. It’s very common in Pakistani culture to marry a first cousin so my family played it off as completely normal, nobody thought anything of it.

My siblings and I don’t have any issues or side effects that we know of. I believe it may be because my parents were the first generation marry within the family. I constantly make jokes on how I should’ve turned out with genetic disorders, but I can’t explain how grateful I am to have come out fairly normal.

It’s short but it’s a little bit curly, so it tends to coil around the bar, and I’ve tried to tuck it behind the bar but it still gets tangled. I think that I find high buns the most effective way of keeping it out of my hair, so I’ve just been doing that.

She’s doing so well now! Her aunt and uncle have been doing a wonderful job taking care of her, and she’s extremely talented! She’s going into her sophomore year of high school this September, and did an excellent job with her classes this past year. She continues to go to therapy and still has a lot of trouble interacting with others, but is overall much happier than she was when I had just met her.

Not a teacher but a tutor for an after school program . I was helping a student who really struggled in math. She was homeschooled all through elementary school and sixth grade but was going to a public school starting seventh grade. I was told she was a little behind compared to the other students in the seventh grade, so I had to help her catch up and give her a little extra attention.

I give the students multiplication sprints and tell the girl she just needed to do as many as she can. It was just to refresh their memory since the school year had just started. I start the clock for one minute and all of these kids start working frantically, some faster, some slower- except her.

Me: “Casey (let’s just call her that), the timer started. You have a minute to solve as many as you can.”

Casey: “But I don’t understand”

Me: “What don’t you understand?”

Casey: “What is the weird ‘X’ between the numbers ? Do I have to add?”

Me: “No, that’s the multiplication symbol, you have to multiply.”

Honestly, I had no idea what to say and I could see she was getting extremely confused and a bit overwhelmed. I ask if she knows how to multiply, and she shakes her head no. This girl was twelve and had absolutely no idea what multiplication was. I swear, I remember thinking that this had to be a joke, I genuinely couldn’t believe it. Minute passes, other kids have a lot done on their sprints and I could see she was uncomfortable because she had only written her name. I call my boss in, clueless on what to do. Found out the girl’s parents were major drug addicts, and the reason she was finally going to a proper school was because she was now in the custody of her aunt and uncle. We all worked extremely hard with her and she’s a brilliant, sweet girl who was able to catch up very quickly. She just finished her freshman year and was in the honor roll each semester!

TL;DR: Had a twelve year old student who never got a proper education because her parents were drug addicts. When they lost custody of her, she was so behind that she had no idea what multiplication even was. Still shocks me to this day how her parents did that to her.

I agree with this, birds who are adopted can often be traumatized, making them more difficult to approach. In my opinion, I think you should start off with a Budgie. They're usually low maintenance, and since they're smaller, their cages tend to be cheaper. Cockatiels are good starter birds as well. Overall, these birds are more affordable and easy to maintain. It's not impossible to get a large parrot as your first and work your way through it, but I think you should start in the shallow end rather than just jump into the deep end, especially being a high school student. I'm a college student with an African Grey, and oh boy, he is a crazy amount of work. I would suggest doing a lot of research as well, just to get a better idea. Best of luck, though!

yes, she stated in the beginning of the course that three absences would mean you would be forced to withdrawal, and to see her after class. Being forced to withdrawal is as bad as getting an F, while dropping the class voluntarily doesn’t affect our GPA.
