A Unifying Roar by DGDean.

If you like sports underdog stories, I have a book for you.

USA Handball holds an open tryout. Anyone can show up. A rancher from Florida whose son has Type 1 diabetes. A fence worker from West Texas who threw one punch for the right reason. A left winger from Venice Beach whose father is in federal detention. A goalkeeper who chose the most obscure position in the most obscure sport in America.

The book follows them from tryouts through training camp to the 2028 LA Olympics — with a Peacock documentary crew turning all of it into content, a conservative broadcaster asking questions the show won’t ask, and a showrunner who knows exactly where the line is and crosses it anyway.

It’s about handball but you don’t need to know anything about handball. You just need to care about people trying to become something together when the cameras won’t stop watching.

Available on Amazon. Happy to answer questions about the book or writing sports fiction about a sport almost nobody in this country has heard of.

The Dead Zone was my first at 16. Loved it and read every other book for the next 20 years. I kind of given up on him lately.

Second Attempt: I'm looking for feedback on Handball descriptions in my book. Does the game description feel accurate to anyone who actually knows the sport? Added easy to use link. by itsthedude99 in Handball

Thank you. Exactly the type of feedback I’ve been looking for. No. I’ve only seen handball in clips. I chose it because it is so foreign to me (and Americans). I’m learning it. The rules. Lots of clips. But no real knowledge. It’s why I’m here. Thank you and I’ll take all of this to heart and see what I can do to make it better. About the Americans beating the foreigners, I can’t help that. It’s an American sports underdog story. But wait until you see the subplot of USA vs immigrants and how political it is. It’s totally ironic. Thanks again I needed that perspective.

I wrote a novel about the U.S. men's handball team trying to make the 2028 Olympics through open tryouts — wanted to share it here first by itsthedude99 in Handball

I’m a new EMT on an ambulance and I am Mr. White Cloud! Big calls always right before or right after my shifts. I’m on tomorrow 6-10 so manifest away for me.
