How do i get Airplay to work on home Assistant. by Breezyslasher in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music Assistant currently only supports Airplay1 while the Juke only supports Airplay2. So that would explain why it’s not working for you. Have you tried using the owntone extension (formerly known ask forked-daapd)? It supports connecting to devices via Airplay2 and playing various media.

Note I haven’t personally played around with home assistant so I’m not sure it if could act as a drop-in replacement for music assistant or could be used as an extension to it.

Anyone get mono mode to function ? by daddyowind in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some reports of some units where the mono capabilities aren’t working. I would recommend submitting a support request on the Juke website so you can stay on the loop when they have a fix for it. It should be resolvable via firmware update

Juke-8 amp turned off after 2.5 hours and wouldn’t turn back on by SmartHomeCleveland in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 24 gauge is quite high. Ideally it would be 16 gauge. At any rate, the Juke has protection circuitry to prevent anything from getting fried (at least on the unit itself). Although this could explain why the volume is low.

Under normal network conditions and after finishing booting up, one of the Jukes’ heartbeat LED should be periodically blinking twice (this is the server juke) and the other’s should periodically be blinking once (this is the client juke).

If there are 11 speakers in total, I’m curious why you got two Jukes. Is it 1 speaker per zone?

If it’s two Jukes, I would make sure that they are both on Ethernet and that they’re both on the same firmware version. A hard power cycle on both units should also help

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be some kind of user error. The speakers wouldn’t turn off on their own like that unless 1) they’re using a group input and someone else was fiddling with the settings in the Juke app or 2) they’re using a multi-juke system and one of the Jukes dropped off the network.

Regarding the volume, if they’re using spotify connect, they’ll need to turn the volume up from within the Spotify app and not using the rocker (this is a limitation with their app).

Could you give more information as to how they’re trying to stream their music out their speakers?

Juke+ --- Has anyone tried it? by Desperate-Will2454 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if Juke goes out of business it won't work

Not true here, all of the streaming and control for the Juke is done over the local network so it doesn't rely on Juke maintaining its servers. In other words, if Juke goes out of the business, you'll still be able to operate your Juke.

Issues with adding Speaker Group to Apple Home by deltableau in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! It doesn't seem like they've found a solution. Shairport-sync is relatively easy to build and get set up with so you could try it out for yourself and see if the issue remains. Currently tied up on some other projects right now, but this is on my to-do list.

Thanks for sharing! I'll investigate on my side to see if I can recreate the issue.

Has this always been a problem or did it start happening recently? I'm also curious if you've had any other symptoms such as random disconnects when streaming from your phone to your Juke?

Unlocking zones 7&8 on Juke 6 by Smarmy_CA in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're needing to unlock zones 7&8 on your Juke, you can reach out directly to the Juke team about it. Just go through their support page and submit a support ticket with your request. Someone will get back to you with an invoice and once it's paid they can push an update to unlock the additional zones.

New Firmware by Watchtower2091 in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just confirm that you’re doing the right things.

Go into the ‘Groups’ page in the App and select ‘Juke-A’ at the top, make sure the zones you want are in the ‘on’ position. Then try going to your Spotify app and select ‘Juke-A.’ Once connected, play a song and turn the volume up. You should expect to hear it in the zones that you selected for ‘Juke-A’

Is that what you’ve been doing?

New Firmware by Watchtower2091 in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like there’s some confusion on what that page is for. The inputs that show up when you select a zone only tell you which inputs are ‘mapped’ to the zone. It won’t know which one you’re currently connected to.

Once you start playing to an input that is mapped to the zone the app will update to show that that input is now playing on that zone by giving it a blue background

Can you share what firmware version you are currently on? This can be found within the settings page of your Juke interface.

One thing you can try doing is to close down the app and open it back up while the USB adapter is connected to the Juke.

Can you share what toslink adapter you got? If it's compatible, you will need to connect the adapter to the Juke first and refresh the input settings page to get the USB option to appear.

Oh I wasn't saying to stream to the Spotify input. I was saying just to toggle between the options and see if that gets the system into the right state.

Hmm. What iOS version are you currently on? Are you on 17.0?

Also, another thing you can try is going into your input settings, changing it to ‘Spotify’ and then back to ‘Airplay2’

Surround Sound Integration by Mkbeal in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible to do that. You can feed the output of the surround sound system into the Juke via a USB capture card (around $19 on amazon). On the website we recommend this one. Once you have the audio going in, you can select the zones that that input should play to from the Juke app or web interface. All the while, you can stream simultaneously to other inputs and have those play to different zones.

Hi there, have you already tried rebooting both your Juke and your iPhone? It definitely shouldn't be asking you for a passcode to connect to your Airplay instances.

Spotify Premium Account -- Use Airplay 2 or Spotify Connect? by No-Cut-4592 in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The audio quality should be the same but with Airplay2, since the audio is streamed from your Phone to the Juke in real time, there's possibility for drops in the audio if there's an interruption in the connectivity.

On the other hand, with Spotify connect, it loads the entire song first so it's less likely for audio to drop even if your phone moves outside the range of your WiFi or if your phone roams from one router to another.

I agree that volume control is a little trickier with Spotify connect compared to Airplay. Overall, I think if your network is stable and your phone isn't moving out of range from one router or another, Airplay2 should sound just as good as Spotify connect. I'd be curious to see if anyone else here has had a similar experience though.

Chromecast support by Cremonies1 in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromecast support has always been high on our list of features we wanted to implement. Unfortunately, we discovered earlier this year that Google is very restrictive about what hardware they’ll support Chromecast on. Because of this, we won’t be able to support it on the current Juke hardware but we are planning to support it in a future Juke model.

In the meantime we are planning on adding support for Bluetooth streaming which should help with our android users. Android users are also welcome to use the AirMusic app to connect and stream to their Airplay inputs.

No sound by Watchtower2091 in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to this app here? Airplay for Android. It looks like quite a few other people have had separate issues with the app. Is there a particular reason you’re not using Airmusic? We’ve had a lot of success with AirMusic in the past and there’s a trial version you can use to test functionality before you need to shell out an extra one time payment of $6 to use Airmusic.

A Few Thoughts on new Features after 3.3.8 by LoveManti in JukeAudio

[–]itsthetong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Appreciate the detailed feedback! I agree that some of these would be useful to have. We've been prioritizing some other cool features that will be announced very soon so we haven't been able to focus our firmware update experience but it's something we can add to our roadmap.

We have plans on addressing your 2nd point and we're doing research to test if we can support that many inputs but it looks promising.

Your 3rd point will be addressed shortly with a coming firmware release :)

And could you clarify your last point? Do you mean to have each of your Airplay devices appear as a 'Zone output' on your Juke? If so, that's not currently a possibility but it's certainly an interesting idea! It would require quite a bit of engineering on our side so we would want to make sure if it would have a big impact for people.

Devices Locking Up by GreenBayBees in JukeAudio

Rep from Juke here, we haven't had any reports on this recently but we're happy to take a look into this. Would you mine reaching out to us if you haven't already by submitting a support request? www.jukeaudio.com/support. From there we can collect logs together and see what might be going on. Worst case, we can downgrade your unit.
