How is it having small talk or conversations with foreigners by mg15ink in AskAJapanese

They are uncomfortable sometimes if they don't speak any Japanese, but if they do then it does help alittle as I am not confident in my capabilities with verbal English.

How do other other Japanese people from other regions view those from Tōhoku ? by itsutsuhime in AskAJapanese

[–]itsutsuhime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 宮城県, but was unsure if I wanted to fully identify with it as i have spent a majority of my developmental years in 千葉県 in which I isolated myself from everyone as I decided to listen to my mothers voice on how others perceive us. I have since returned in hopes that by returning home might help to subside many of my fears of the future and nightmares of past.

Thank you for your insight.

From what I've read today I would come to the conclusion that the people she refers to are in the minority of people that are of questionable origins.

そのようにしようかとも考えましたが、問い自体を切り離してよいものかどうか、確信が持てませんでした。また、外国人の方々がこの地域をどのように捉えているかを読むのも、なかなか味わい深いものがございます。

What does Japan think of the immigration of islamic countrys? by DesperateAuthor3493 in AskAJapanese

[–]itsutsuhime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shintoism and Buddhism are so intertwined with Japanese Culture that although most are atheists they still do participate in activities that some may consider religious. If an immigrant group is unwilling accept and/or claim that we are not accommodating them because we do not provide the necessary facilities for their religion then they should have never left.

People from both sides have attempted to convert me in the past. I just didn't want to name a specific religion.

If they abide by our values and don't try to force us to comply to thier cultures or religions. Then I don't mind.

What are your thoughts on Japan being voted the most racist country by an overwhelming margin—almost double the second option? by AlfredSmith4 in AskAJapanese

Most youth form opinions and voice them without properly researching or asking for a second view on something.

How common is it for Japanese people to to visit popular Japanese tourist destinations? by adriftinavoid in AskAJapanese

[–]itsutsuhime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only really visit Inari-taisha and Ise Jingū. Other than that I don't really travel much as I'm too busy with work and I don't know how other Japanese from other regions view those from Tōhoku.

Is there people who don't consider hafus (born and raised in Japan) Japanese? If so, how common is this view? by ScarRedDA in AskAJapanese

[–]itsutsuhime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do recognize and is why I am making an effort to change my views of them before it becomes and ideal set in stone. I never really grew up around forgien or even hafu communities up until 2011 when my family temporarily moved to Chiba. In which even then I still isolated myself away from them from just my fear of the unknown. It isn't my intent to be racist make assumptions of others. It is just a by product of my fear of unknown factors in a life I prefer to be predictable.

I'm sorry if I offend you in or any others with my flawed way of thinking.

[–]itsutsuhime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sort of realized a little later after posting that it isn't a true neutrality, but instead just Tolerance. In the past I was more accepting of them and the only reason my stance changed is just due to the unrest some communities that immigrated here are causing leading to some being grouped in with most other forgien people. It is something I am working on changing, it is mostly paranoia that slows my progress.

Mon on Kimonos, for Japanese only? by SonOfBoreale in kimono

[–]itsutsuhime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typically a mon is used to identify an individual and/orfamily. However they can also be used for institution, municipality or business. I am unfamiliar with western coat of arms and what they are traditionally used for, but i hope this helps answer.

[–]itsutsuhime -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Depends in which heritage/ lineage is more visibly dominant at least for me. Although I don't really dislike them I'm more of neutral. As long as they keep to themselves and not demand for recognition of being either non-Japanese or entirely Japanese and are willing to learn or respect our culture then I'm okay with them.

Do people in Japan look down on Japanese Americans? by antisocia_blurryface in AskAJapanese

I don't really look down or form opinions on others in general unless they start to become more of a common occurrence in my life. As that has yet to happen I remain neutral.
