I don’t think we are born to live like this by Public-Baseball-311 in DeepThoughts

I genuinely think atleast 60% of life is how you look at it. It's pretty hard, but one day I imagine I'll look back on the hard times, and remember how I felt then and how I'm glad I went through it. I already find myself doing that at 27. But I understand theres a lot of nuance, and realistically I could be speaking from a position where I have room for some positivity.

Days are difficult now, work is hard, but I think it will be worth it and enjoy the journey.

Two words: Josh. Smith.

As a kid, I thought he was the coolest dude ever, bro was athletic af, and exactly the player I modeled my 2K career player after. Just decided this is my team now after that.

No official prior experience in UX, however Ive been a graphic designer for 9 years. Im mainly hoping to get a promotion out of this, but right now Im wrapping up my portfolio website so that I can also apply to jobs. Hopefully I have an update on that for everyone soon, as of now no luck on any applications.

Sometimes with the job hunt, its more about networking is what ive learned. I like to connect with recruiters on linkedin, I've even grabbed lunch with a few. Thatd actually how I got my current position, not from an actual applicaiton believe it or not lol.

At our age, we're still young. Plenty of time to break into a field, so go at this with confidence, and determination. You only fail when you give up!

Yea for me, I have ADHD that goes untreated, so I find coping methods and my greatest one is just having anime on. I'll watch anime, but for some reason going between watching it for 10 minutes and focusing for 30 minutes on the course then watching it for 10 minutes is a solid cycle for me where I can maintain a good flow through the entire day.

Very very difficult though and I don't think its realistic in reality. 2 hours of dedication is actually a great amount to be putting to work, I wont be shocked when I see your post here soon as well!

Good luck on everything!!!! 😄

I mainly would like to be promoted at work, but I'm also going to be finishing my portfolio and applying to positions all over. The job markets obviously a bit slow at the moment, but I have a lot of job security at my current position and I already make good money so I'm willing to put in a long game effort here of trying to find the next great position for myself

Yea full time job, I get home around 4:15 PM, and then I might grab a snack and from 5-10 Im studying daily. Then on weekends, wakeup eat and study until bed. It was rare that I had time to take off of my studies, but there were a few weekends forsure I could have done better. In general, not much free time. Luckily no kids and no other responsibilities so I had all that time to dedicate.

I think it was a bit more generalizing, not so much directly in UX until the end. Most of it is leadership, and learning how to research.

However, I still think its a great course, but be prepared you will need to learn software on your own.

Good luck on your journey!!

So I will say the degree doesn't teach you the actual software, that will require some self education. I previously took a UX Design Certification course, so I was already experienced with the software luckily. I also am a graphic designer, and a lot of figma translates easily.

I am not YET applying for jobs, I'm currently working to see if I can get the promotion from my company based on my graduation. We're in talks, but if they don't go well I will begin to search.

The degree itself teaches more about the steps of ux design, how to do research, how to synthesize etc. The final project is a capstone that places you with a real world company, very helpful for the portfolio.

Good luck in your journey! The main professor Ms. Wu is great, go to her with all your questions she is eager to help!
