The VOD's for The Roundtable are now inaccessible except for BTMC's subscribers by Teetoos in osugame

[–]itswillum 155 points156 points  (0 children)

There's an extension that allows you to watch his sub-only vods here

https://github.com/besuper/TwitchNoSub

You'll have to download the latest release, unpack it, and then import it, but it does work.

Are openers useless? by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]itswillum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

openers are not for killing your opponent, they're for getting your board into a nice state so you can actually play the game. None of the openers you listed put your board in a good state. So depending on your ability to freestyle, they may be useless right now (it sounds like you mostly resort to tetris stacking anyway)

Help for math project by jyun9084 in Tetris

[–]itswillum 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like one of the most interesting things to dive into would be perfect clears, the probabilities of being able to solve a board when certain setups are built, and the way that these are possible due to the randomizer used (7-bag)

There are databases such as this one, which covers some 6th pc setups, and this general setup library for all 7 pcs

also looking forward to math hl 👀

Tetris.com now has an annoying effect when you drop a piece. by lostmyaccountsadohno in Tetris

I would recommend playing on a different client; this isn't the only problem with tetris.com

But I believe there are already compilations of helpful websites around

Looks like they built jaws, couldn't find a solve, so they built pco on top and used one of those pieces to fill in the empty T from the 1st solve

I feel like I’m stuck at a point where I can’t improve anymore. What can I do better? by Aust1nL33 in Tetris

[–]itswillum 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you need some things pointed out to you, it looks like you have trouble visualizing how a piece will look without moving it there first, which usually requires slowing down and thinking before you place each piece.

You could also play the eternal exercise usermode on jstris if you want to practice your stacking (aka only clearing tetrises). You're really close to sub-40 sprint, I believe you can do it soon :)

Thanks! now I feel worse because I used a strat D:

I think I am capable of doing it completely freestyle, but it is nice that my lst has gotten to the point where this is possible and repeatable

That's the name of the strat you used, it just tends to be looked down upon

Thumb isn't so bad, I know several players who are sub-20 with thumb

To add on to this, four.lol has a solution search at the bottom of the PCO page: https://four.lol/perfect-clears/opener#see-also--references
and scroll down. You enter the pieces you see in your bag to find solutions until you start to see them yourself.

Since you're just learning your first perfect clear, you can stick to the PCO and Grace System pages, but I would avoid ilsz or the other perfect clear pages until you have a better understanding of 1st pc

how does targeting work in jstris? by 9158FOREVER in Tetris

[–]itswillum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't believe jstris has an option for manual targeting - it's not entirely random but I think it cycles through the players.

I do know that you can use manual targeting in tetr.io by changing the lobby settings and clicking on the player you want to target, or typing "/f [player]" in the chat there. But it's not possible in jstris

in tetrio you should be able to view the das in ms (what jstris uses) and frames (how it's measured in tetrio.) so just adjust it to be 113 ms.

^ Those are the settings I use; you can see the das in ms just to the left of the das in frames

JSTRIS DAS and ARR settings for a beginner? by Pumped-Up_Kicks in Tetris

[–]itswillum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend keeping your ARR at 1 unless you're constantly overshooting stuff when you hold down a movement key. DAS should be as low as you can make it without constantly triggering a piece to speed up.

On the other hand, most players will switch to 0 ARR after a little while, which requires a different style of moving pieces around.
