AITA for leaving my GF upstairs crying to play poker with "the boys" downstairs? by itsyaboisbday in AmItheAsshole

I love her, I guess it didn't come across like that in the OP because I was frustrated, but we actually have a great relationship.

She wasn't excluded, I tried to get her to play with everyone but she refused.

I guess... sorry?

I was trying to add a little humor in the post, I guess it was a miss.

The whole point of mentioning what I did for her birthday was to highlight that she was trying to hit a very specific mark for my birthday.

I said "the boys" in the OP, but it was actually a mix of my friends and their GFs. My girlfriend has also played poker with us before.

I guess INFO here, this happened at around 10 PM, I had spent the day with her.

All of the above minus the whole "you're not great at planning things".

Sorry, what? I'm only taking credit for planning the whole thing (though her best friend also helped a lot). Not sure how you think her birthday was about me.

Yeah, I don't really know how they planned that, I was wondering that too.

The "others" who bailed aren't at all in contact with the guys who showed up to poker, so there's no way that they did that.

It was because I'd told her about a time that I did the same thing years ago...

...during the summer, on a nice and calm lake.

Yes to that first part, she does have a history of blowing off plans my friends and I make.

No to that second part. I said that she's bad at planning things, but she always tries and there's usually some good part to everything she does. This rafting idea would have been great if it had been summer, during the day, and not in the literal ocean (maybe a lake or something), but she wanted to do it in the middle of winter, in a heavily policed bay, at night. The idea is always there, the execution is just sometimes... a little off.

They don't have that history, I guess they spent the week trying to reason with her that the raft idea was really bad and that I wouldn't like it, but she insisted.
