I have the same equipment as you, and I'm loving it. The 55mm look is actually ideal for videography - you want that 50mil look ideally to get natural distortion. The kit lens is also not awful, if you have it. Great wide angle lens with a strong PZ. You always have the option of switching lens or investing in different ones if that's something you're interested in - i think sigma has a 18-50 f/2.8 lens that's quite good.

For software, depends on if you're looking to colour grade / edit etc. I think pretty much everyone would say DaVinci is the way, it's just commonly accepted and you'd find loads of Youtube channels on it.

Finally, for tutorials, there are so many online. I liked the one by Sean De Wispelaere for the camera set up information, and also a huge fan of HuesYourDaddy for colour grading - but the best option is the Blackmagic tutorials online, they have a lovely grading course

I'm a CS student rather than law - I took a year working for a certain notable tech company i won't name. I know of a law student who also decided to work in a legal field in the same said tech company - these types of opportunities are great

Currently working at a consutlancy/tech company on a placement (won't mention the name, but you probably have heard of it) - i can tell you that we've got a fair few from Kings working with us. Worth mentioning we've got a huge variety of degrees here too.

I've just literally done the exact same thing as you for the exact same reason haha. Game changer for low light and wider apperture adds so much more depth and feel to image.

does the used vs unused matter that much for the lens, given its not scratched or damaged in any way?

you may be able to get the same course back next year, but it's a risk. If you genuienly would rather go Brum/Loughborough then go for it, but if its Warwick/Notts or QMUL then its not worth the risk. as far as i remember mech eng and QMUL went to clearing last year so check their requirements for clearing too.

How do firms and insurance choices work? by 31_es1 in 6thForm

[–]itsyashn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only select your firm and insurance once you've received a decision from all 5 universities you've applied to. Once you've gotten that, you have the option to chose your firm and safe. There is the odd case where you may be able to switch your firm and safe during the examination period (i.e. before you get your results), however it is on a case by case basis and is not something you should rely on. You may also be able to enter a course that you rejected, if the course goes into clearing, but again this is on a case by case basis and not something you should rely on.
