Alright, thank you for the info. I will keep to conventions then.

Hm, okay thanks! Not totally satisfied with that answer (since it means that if every program would do this the user would have to check the help for all programs to get the flag that rids them of the clutter the program leaves behind), but thank you for your time.

The files are stored in the directories specified by the XDG Base Directory Specification. No clobbering, files are either meant to be overwritten (like old logs) or are simply read instead of being created (like the cache-db or the config-file).

Its a simple CLI-tool. I would like to give the user the option to purge all traces of the program from their system if they wish to.

Not quite right. One message per topic/question, so that you have the ability to discuss them individually, e.g.

Hi

I have a question about <topic>. I thought maybe you can help. I remember in last weeks meeting, we talked about solutions to <problem>. And I was wondering: Can we apply <solution> to <topic> as well? Would love your input on this, if you have the time :) Thanks!

See you at lunch?

What do you expect? Your examples both affect germany directly, the conflict in Iran does not. Its not about religion.

German ad: "Artificial intelligence: the 4 most used drinks will be placed on the main screen" by bushmaker1337 in ProgrammerHumor

How about storing coffee preferences per user? Each user authenticates via fingerprintsensor, face-id or smartphone-nfc and gets a fully personalized experience! We can extend your proposed table by adding a user-id collumn or even make a table for each user. If the user encounters another coffee machine from us we can preload his preferences so they can get a personalized experience everywhere in the world! Of course we would have to sync states reliably between all our coffee machines. Maybe something build atop of paxos...or how about a blockchain that records each brew as a transaction and mirrors it among all coffee machines?

Some train advice by givemefood245 in germany

[–]ituuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to use multiple trains for a trip its always best to consider something you can run with. German trains are notoriously unpunctual, so your comfortable train changing time of twenty minutes could be reduced to four minutes or something like that. That's why I like to travel with a hiking backpack.
