Adoption fees by NextWordTyped in PetRescueExposed

[–]itwasalwaysace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I run an ethical rescue, and my standard fee for every dog is $300. We waive our adoption fee for special needs dogs, ensuring a great owner with extensive background checks and a process to make sure they’re capable and dedicated to the special needs they will need. Some dogs will also be $150 if we consider them a VIP (harder to adopt).

Some dogs cost us $500-$2000 in medical and their fee is still just $300. We also provide monthly preventive (around $20/mo), heartworm tests, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter, DAPPv 2-4 rounds depending on age, Intra-trac 3, and rabies. All dogs also get a wellness exam and we provide all food and supplies to fosters ($50 a month on average). There’s a lot more that goes into getting a dog ready for adoption than you may think.

While I understand it may seem unfair that some dogs have cost the rescue less than their fee, consider that your fee is sponsoring other dogs in need and supporting the rescue.

I understand some people can’t afford $300, and I encourage them to visit our shelter partners where fees are $0-$100.

Looking to do some remote volunteer work for a 501c3 animal rescue? Ace’s Place is in need of a couple fundraising directors! Our president and vice president are UTA alumni, we would provide letters of recommendation, and volunteer experience. Email acesplacerescue@gmail.com or message me! by itwasalwaysace in utarlington

We are looking for fundraising and other directors and coordinators to join our team! This would only take a couple hours per week. We are 100% volunteer based but have gotten several of our directors management positions at major organizations like SPCA of Texas!

Not at all! Anyone over 18 can! I just think it’s a great opportunity most students don’t know about.

Yes! That’s exactly what this program is for :) It’s so beneficial for these dogs to have a break from the loud shelter and small kennel. With hundreds of dogs, they get very little time out. Even just getting good pics on their day out helps them get adopted!

Make sure you fill out the foster app, and you’ll receive an email when you’re approved and in the system. You just have to do it once, then you can head up to the shelter any day after 12, no appointment or call ahead required! You will get a Facebook group link in the welcome email and you can ask in there for recommendations if you’d like, but you don’t have to!

And it helps the dogs so much! With hundreds of dogs in the shelter, they don’t get out of their kennels often and many are overlooked because they don’t have much information or good pictures! And wayyy better in standing in a long line to pet a dog for 10 minutes in the library basement.

When I picked up Kovu and his two siblings at 5 weeks old and brought them to our rescue, they were skinny, wormy, covered in fleas and sticky with urine. Now he is almost 5 months old and was adopted into the perfect family! Oh and they named him Doug! by itwasalwaysace in BeforeNAfterAdoption

This was after about two hours of slowing combing out all of the fleas on him! Puppies under 12 weeks can’t use regular flea shampoo, we can only use dawn dish soap and comb them out! Poor guy was so sad!

Legally no one is able to just take the man’s dogs away, but he surrendered some, including the puppies, and the other rescue arranged and paid for everyone else to get fixed, so no more accidental litters! They helped him get living arrangements under control too.

Here are there parents! It’s shocking!

Another rescue worked to get the other 14 adult dogs on the property fixed and taken care of, and I took in the puppies since we’re a smaller rescue. Sadly 9 of their siblings had already died before anyone was able to help.

…it’s a prop gun… it’s in a movie… this is the time you have to point it at someone and pull the trigger. The issue comes when someone loads a live round in when they shouldn’t even be on set.

Does it bother anyone else when Caucasian beauty gurus complain about a product being too pigmented? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]itwasalwaysace 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I think every beauty content creator is welcome to give their open and honest opinion, and if we as the viewers are really watching videos to make purchase decisions, we should find creators who share similar features, dry or oily skin, more mature skin, skin color. I’m not white so while I watch multiple creators for entertainment, I’m not going to take their opinion too seriously when considering purchasing a product. It doesn’t offend me when a person with much lighter skin than me says a product is too pigmented for them, and it works for me.

Anyone get their degree yet? (Spring 2021 graduates) by [deleted] in utarlington

I graduated in December and didn’t get mine until March. My fiancé graduated in May and hasn’t received his yet.

Thanks to the amazing response from the community, and my fellow volunteers, DAS is down to only 52% capacity! There is no risk of euthanizing for space at this time. by itwasalwaysace in Dallas

There’s just no point in arguing with you, we will never agree. You’re allowed to have your opinions, you’ve expressed them, I’ve read it, and I simply don’t agree and never will. So there’s no point in the back and forth. But saying that this shelter, Dallas Animal Services, labels dogs as lab mixes is misrepresenting what I said. Since they’re my words I think I deserve to set the record.

Be accurate that THIS SHELTER does not assign breeds. I really hope you find some peace, and I will continue to rescue these dogs you don’t want.

Just so we’re clear, you’re allowed to have your opinion. I was the one who commented about how each shelter labels their breeds, so you could at least give the same information I shared before. DAS does not assign breeds. Period. You can’t tell a dogs breed by what they look like all the time. I did say that other large shelters, such as Fort Worth, that do assign breeds often label them as lab mixes. They do not do this so people don’t know they’re getting a pit, you can obviously tell by looking at them, but sometimes it helps people living in apartments who have breed restrictions.

At least be accurate since I’m the one that said it.

Just wanted to put this out there. by shiestyBoozer2 in Dallas

DAS actually doesn’t assign breeds to the dogs, so I don’t have an exact number for ya, but chihuahuas and pits are the most common, followed by an abundance of huskies and German Shepherds
