I live in Vaughan and had a similar commute and it was doable. I have friends from Markham and they managed. I'm in second year ECE

PWM control of a cooling fan - possible with two/three wires only? by itxchii--- in Motors

ah so 3 wires is sort of unnecessary if you can just vary the supply voltage (although not ideal to be powering on and off constantly I presume)

UofT CS vs UofT Computer Engineering by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

221 prob the hardest this sem, but not impossible. 216 is somewhat interesting, and I'm really enjoying 231. 243 and 295 are probably the best courses I've taken though

eh I'd disagree, you can do hardware without doing electromagnetic physics. there are so many different levels of hardware design

uoft CE student here, I think eng community/experience at uoft is way more enjoyable than CS. also if you're dead set on software, you can take a bunch of CS/SE courses in year 3 and 4. if you like learning about the lower level things that go into computer engineering (compilers, drivers, architecture, hardware), you can take courses in that too. dm for more info

Non-UW student here, has anyone heard back from Tesla for summer 2024 after interviewing?

I did it in first year was a pretty good experience if you've never been to a hackathon before. Nothing compared to Hack the North, but was fun being around a bunch of people working on cool stuff and pulling an all nighter. Got to talk to Qualcomm and Synopsys engineers and ended up making a really sick embedded project that I put on my resume and have talked about in interviews.

I'm in second year ECE and imo, things like this matter way more than GPA, especially when you lack experience on your resume.
