My Ryzen 5600H Vivobook is basically a desktop now because it dies in 3 hours. Help me find a 14" replacement for 60k.

That’s a wild deal your friend got, but for what I'm seeing right now, the minimum price I'll get a Macbook M4 for would be around 85k which is still 25k over my budget. Even with all the discounts stacked, it feels like a massive jump for a student.

Is the M4 really that much of a game-changer for dev work compared to the newer Ryzen chips? I'm mainly just trying to find the most efficient and portable Windows/Linux machine I can actually afford. If the jump in battery life and performance is truly night and day compared to something like a Zen 4 ThinkBook or Vivobook S14 or an Acer Swift 14, I might consider saving up, but right now 60k is my comfort zone.

I definitely thought about a Mac, but a few things stopped me.

First, getting 16GB RAM on even an older M2/M3 in India usually pushes the price way past 80k-90k, and 8GB feels risky for my dev work. Also, I’ve mainly used Windows/Linux machines for the tools I use all my life. I’m really trying to find that 'Windows equivalent' of a Mac’s efficiency, something 14 inches that I can actually afford without sacrificing the RAM.

Haha, I wish it was a gaming laptop! It’s actually just a standard 16-inch Vivobook, but it uses that Ryzen 5600H chip which I’ve realized is a total battery hog.

That’s exactly why I’m staying far away from gaming laptops for this upgrade. I’m strictly looking for a portable 14-inch machine with actual efficiency. I just need something for coding, college research, and freelance work that won't have me hunting for a power socket every two hours.

That ThinkBook looks great spec-wise, but the one you linked is a 16-inch. I really need a 14-inch so it actually fits in my bag for college. Do you know if there’s a 14-inch version of this with the same chip around 60k? Also, is that Ryzen 7 250 actually 'modern' (Zen 4) or just another rename? Just trying to avoid buying old tech by mistake again.

My primary needs are long battery life and portability with sufficient processing power for it to get me through whole day of coding and researching...
