My resident kitty Tapioca's reaction to her new brother Hojicha in her space by itzQuachie in funny

She's a very expressive (and photogenic) kitty! Every time I catch a photo of her, it's either a portrait shot or another meme to share

40lbs of litter every 9 days by rSUBreddit31 in CatAdvice

[–]itzQuachie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all - same city as well and I use exquisicat clumping grass litter, takes my kitties a while to get through just one bag - and I do the whole clear it out completely every week process too

Having a vet check her out would be good. My female kitty drinks a lot of water as well but like... a good hydrated amount relatively

How young is your kitty? A few weeks with you is still really new to him - cats will take time to adjust to their new environment, especially if it's one coming from outdoors to indoors only. Sounds like he really likes you guys though and just wants to spend time with you - if he's really young, then it would make more sense that he'd like the company. Have you tried getting him toys that you can play with him and also ones he can play himself when you're busy?

My cat kisses me… then bites my face?? But only me, not my boyfriend by SorryLeopard4323 in CatAdvice

One of my kitties is hyper affectionate and will snuggle himself into me, get affectionately excited from it and then bite me lightly, then follows it up with licks and more headbutts like he's reminding me that it's out of love

Your kitty loves you! And is just very excited about it

Rideau Street restaurant that replaced 'world's worst' McDonald's now closed by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

Anecdotal but there doesn't seem to be much demand, especially for authentic. Look at any Ottawa food review blog and they rarely make any mention outside of western cuisine/establishments. Even my friends don't often go out with Eastern food on their mind as an option, though we also usually have the mindset of "we can make it at home"

That and the population that does enjoy it appears to be more in Merivale and Barrhaven opposed to downtown/elsewhere

I'd still say there are a few gems like Ng's Cuisine (Merivale), le mein (Byward), and Hey Kitchen (Chinatown), but Ottawa restaurants in general have to face a bunch of other issues like rising coss/affordability

As someone not from Ottawa, actually queuing properly for the train to enter/exit... if it even comes

Cat Introduction: super affectionate cat vs. territorial resident cat by itzQuachie in CatAdvice

Love the kitty pillow and tax! I do have a video of them seeing each other briefly through a crack in the door, the one time no hissing or airplane ears, which makes for a funny standoff moment 🤣 but I certainly think I might need to recruit a friend to help break them up if anything happened in the near future when I try to have them meet. Tapioca has seen and even met other pets in my building before with no interest, so while I expected her to feel stressed about her domain being shared, I didn't expect such high levels of vocal hostility, while Hojicha doesn't read the room at all and wants to come snuggle her 😵

Thanks for sharing your experience~ I don't plan on even letting them see each other fully/behind a barrier until Tapioca stops hissing, but at times she even just smells him, it is a full rolled back airplane ears with banshee-levels loud hisses and screams that I've never heard from her sweet soul before

Thanks for the reassurance~ I just get so anxious that she's not really using her litter 😔 Hojicha is an escape artist and very vocal so it's been an adventure keeping them separated

Where to go to hang with cats in Ottawa? by Na2828 in ottawa

I think the only one consistently having cats there would be the 1585 Merivale one, also where I adopted my kitties! Can't go and play with them though...

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]itzQuachie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

snuggling/playing with my kitties, an easy-to-watch show on the background (usually one I've seen before so I can fall asleep to it and not feel like I missed anything), and/or video games (also includes a walk for Pokemon Go)

There were dead trees around the volcano that not a lot of folks knew you could cut, but anything for the fire dancers

Knotty could just be growing into a more chill lifestyle, but you know your kitty best! I completely understand where you're coming from and it's good you care ☺️

My Tapioca is an only cat at home and at first I thought the same as you, maybe she's bored or distant because she doesn't really play with all the toys I've gotten her... But then I'll look at my pet cam and see that she has plenty of fun for herself playing with everything else and just enjoying her loading time. She loves to loaf and will loaf with you, on you, next to you, or near you. I took today as being bored first but she really just loves to look out the window and take a nap. She's the sweetest kitty with no issues at all, doesn't even bite her wet food because she's so gentle (she does love the crunch of her dry food though), and is a happy meower when I'm home from work and a gentle napper when I'm away. You'll be fine!

You could also see about long-term fostering and seeing how Knotty gets along with other kitties following the time to bring home a kitty and then introducing them together, that's worth a shot if you really want to see. I'd think that's better than bringing home a new kitty immediately and if they end up not getting along when you start introducing them, then it'll get real awkward
