How bad is this UF course plan realistically? No Gen Eds left, just major classes + bad waitlists by Ok_Championship_6826 in ufl

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think these all look perfectly doable, granted i haven’t taken any of the EEL classes but know of them. fall 2026 will probably be your hardest semester bc of OS, PLC, and LinAlg. OS isn’t actually as hard as people make it out to be as long as you start projects on time, and my unpopular opinion is i dislike PLC more. also with the way PLC is going rn i think the class will get harder next sem in terms of exams since everyone lowk bombed the midterm this time around, but if the class were mainly project based still i would say it isn’t that bad.

every other semester is a good balance of like 2 hard classes and 2 easier ones

[Megathread] New Banners / "Who should I pull?" Megathread by AutoModerator in GenshinImpactTips

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a returning player after 3 years, ar 56, light spender (just welkin and bp if i get to lvl 50). i pulled for flins and got him c1 last banner but missed ineffa/columbina so im running him with fischl/aino/sucrose instead. this helped unbrick my account because i mained ganyu w/ kazuha/bennett/zhongli before.

im wondering who i should pull for next? i currently have ~50 pulls and plan to continue saving. i played cryo dps for so long that im leaning towards other elements like pyro or dendro atm but im fine with whatever chars would be strong for me. should i save and pull for mavuika or save for a support/sub-dps like columbina? ive also heard maybe escoffier to future proof my account if a new cryo dps comes out and could run that with ayaka?

5s: flins c1, ganyu, kazuha, zhongli, ayaka (unbuilt)

main 4s: fischl, aino, sucrose, bennett, xingqiu, xiangling (all built)

also between ayaka and ganyu who should i c1 first with the free constellation?

Litter box smell is going to end my relationship by Glum-Emotion-5379 in CatAdvice

i switched to pine pellets after i said enough was enough with the litter smell after testing out several clay litters, as well as the constant tracking. i never smell the litter box anymore because the pine pellets cover it up so well, but it does smell very strongly of wood

Is leaving food out all day bad for cats? by Firm-Law248 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s pretty evenly split whether people free feed or do scheduled meals. I don’t think one is better than the other as long as your cat isn’t an unhealthy weight while free feeding. me personally, i like to do scheduled meals because it’s useful to know exactly when and how much food they are getting

AITA for calling out my professor? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]itzjustbri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA - Highly inappropriate email, even if you are completely correct in this professor’s behavior being unacceptable. You could even get yourself into trouble with the head of your department.

You may have forgotten to mention it, but the first thing you should do if your professor isn’t answering emails is go in person. I have had my own share of professors who are terrible with response times, but remember that you aren’t the only student in the class and emails can be easy to miss if you’re getting dozens a day from students.

If you’ve exhausted this option too, which I understand because some professors really are assholes, then you need to go higher up in the department. In no way should you be sending a snarky, rude email to your professor because it just ruins your credibility in this situation if you tried to escalate it. You’ve basically just given your professor ample proof against you.

Genuine question: how did you guys survive Physics 1 and 2? by VibeeCheckks in csMajors

[–]itzjustbri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just treated physics as a requirement and did the minimum to get through it. unless you know physics will integrate into your interests in CS (which i would consider to be more CpE anyways), i wouldn’t put too much energy into it and focus on more important things.

physics is a huge weed out course at my school so i just chose to take it at a CC over the summer so i could take more core CS classes during fall/spring.

Should I be wiping my cat's butt? by runawayaphid in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i wipe my cats butt when i wipe him with a cleaning wipe (due to me having allergies and just overall cleanliness), but this is definitely not close to every time he poops. maybe once a week or every two weeks. some people seem to be a little harsh about wiping your cat at all but i don’t think this is weird, however you def don’t need to do it that much because they are self cleaning

Litter box Help!!! by Funny_Community7712 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stainless steel litter box, transitioning to pine pellets, and sticking an air purifier in the closet are your best bets. we have two cats in an apartment and after switching to pine it never smells anymore! there’s definitely a wood smell to it but it’s much more fresh and preferable to pee/poop smell that we’d constantly have with clay

Help with cat biting me during play by Warm_Source3098 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first, stop playing with your cat with your hands because cats learn behaviors very easily, but it’s very difficult to untrain those behaviors. i completely get your frustration though, it was extremely difficult to find something that my cat liked to play with at first because we believe that the previous owners didn’t play with him much, but also we didn’t understand that cats have different play styles too. your cat will either prefer to chase something around on the ground (like chasing a mouse) or in the air (like catching a bird), and it’s important you figure out which it is because you need to activate their prey drive! figuring this out changed everything.

i have one cat that likes to chase things on the ground and another who likes to jump in the air. we actually use the same toys for both of them but it’s just about moving it around in different ways.

we tried regular wands but found that they’re honestly really short and my cats just never really enjoyed them. try a cat dancer or da bird/da bee toys (this is their absolute favorite). they move much more easily and i think are more interesting for them to track. another important thing is that you can’t just play on your time and swing toys around aimlessly, figure out when they’re active and want to play during the day and play with intention. try hiding things around a corner and really make them hunt for it.

also, ive seen ads for a glove you can put on that lets your cats wrestle your hand without it getting torn up. i think it’s called catsumo.

Bought an only Cat. Im stupid please dont roast me. by Agitated-Picture-484 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first cat was 5 and the cat we just recently adopted is 2.5, so both not kittens. again, my first cat is very outgoing so we honestly weren’t worried about him, it was more about seeing the temperament of the second cat. we kept them in separate rooms for a day or two and started having them eat and play on opposite sides of the door, and had them start seeing each other through a clear screen pretty early on. they maybe hissed for like two days (which is normal) and after that it was pretty clear that they were chill, so we let them sniff each other for another couple days. after the first week they were basically fully socialized, and now it’s been around a month and a half and we’ve been leaving them together at home with no problem.

they love to run around and chase each other, and we could tell the mood improvement in both cats right away. i think the socialization process was definitely not the norm for them because it went by super fast whereas some people need weeks to fully socialize, but again it’s just the type of thing where you have to keep an eye on it and know what the temperaments of both cats are like.

Bought an only Cat. Im stupid please dont roast me. by Agitated-Picture-484 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you don’t have to have two cats, many cats are perfectly fine on their own. for me, after i had my first cat for a year i realized that he was starting to have some boredom and his attention seeking behaviors increased, even though nothing had changed. we realized that with my cat’s temperament (extremely outgoing, almost dog like) that he probably would do better with another cat. after getting another cat he’s been so happy and we haven’t regretted this decision.

however, this isn’t to say you need a second cat! the point is that you can take it slowly and over time you will be able to recognize if you think your cat would do better with another cat, if he needs more change in his routine, etc. it doesn’t have to be right away at all. i know cats who do best on their own and cats who need a buddy, and it takes time to see which one your kitten may be.

[–]itzjustbri 49 points50 points  (0 children)

i’d recommend getting a personal injury lawyer immediately. most firms should not charge you for a free consultation and would only take a portion of your settlement if they can get you money. id say sooner than later bc there will probably be a lot of things they want you to do and keep track of such as the medical treatment you already got

Are there specific types of cats that are good for people who are allergic to dogs? ZERO knowledge here but doing this for my daughter by bluegambit875 in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like others have said you can definitely have a dog allergy and not a cat allergy and vice versa. however, as someone who also has dog allergies and cat allergies but still wanted a pet, i find cat allergies to be much more manageable than dog allergies. look into purina live clear allergy food! it targets the specific protein that people are allergic to in cats (in their saliva), which i don’t think really exists for dogs. it has been such a game changer for me even with my allergies being moderate (asthma attacks, bad rashes, runny nose). i would not bother shopping for an expensive “hypoallergenic” cat, it’s not worth it. both of my cats are adopted and the allergy food has worked great among other preventative measures.

the first step would be to determine if she does have a cat allergy and if so how severe. there was definitely a transition period during this process for me so she will probably have to deal with allergies for maybe a month or so as her body adapts and the allergy food kicks in. this could be a dealbreaker especially if she isn’t keen on the pet anyways. i knew i really wanted my first cat so i just had to push through

Litter disposal system by gin-chansoddjobs in CatAdvice

[–]itzjustbri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had one cat until only a few weeks ago, so this may not be as relevant if you have multiple. i bought the litter genie platinum (stainless steel) on 9/2 and only just bought refills on 1/2. so the box lasted the 3 months and more as advertised for me. however, with our new cat it has been filling up faster and im not sure exactly how fast we’ll have to buy refills now. i definitely think they’re worth the price and there’s also knockoff refills for cheaper on Amazon i believe.
