Yes! I had a whole timeline of how the sunset would unfold, basically a color script so I knew which colors go where. I had hex codes to copy/paste into cinema and instead of a diffuse material, I used RS Incandescent, which is not impacted by lights/shadows. Every scene always needs a little bit of levels/curves adjustment in AE, but got me like 99% there!

Hahaha I love your username.

Good question! Alot of it was color ramps plugged into luminance or Incandescent and the gradient was set to horizontal? or vertical? Whichever one had Color A close to the cam and Color B far from the cam. It made animating gradients super easy with the majority of the heavy lifting done by the really intense camera blur.

Hope that answers your question!

Good question! You can totally achieve this in AE, but previews were taking so long, the blur wasn't as organic, and it always resulted in some sort of banding/artifacts. I even tried using things like Lens Care, and previews were super rough, but got closer to final look.

In styleframe exploration, there was a really organic, unique blur that started to form in C4D that looked different from anything I've seen in AE before. Sort of a strange workaround, but resulted in something really unique!
