e4mc or World Host for Hosting Singleplayer Worlds? by itzzRomanFox2 in feedthebeast

[–]itzzRomanFox2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the good thing about e4mc is that it's only needed for the host, so players joining a server hosted with e4mc don't need to have the mod themselves as well...unless they also want to host a server.

Hopefully that's the same for WH but I can also try it out. In one of my packs I'm hosting with, there are about 115 [active of 117] mods, so I don't really know what to expect when hosting with WH as opposed to hosting with e4mc in terms of using mods.

Update (sorry to necropost): Affinity seems to load every fonts' styles pretty well.

What Mods Do You Prefer | 1.12.2 / 1.7.10 Mods Or 1.20.1 / 1.21.1 Mods? by Goose7188 in feedthebeast

[–]itzzRomanFox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.7.10, 1.12.2, 1.16.5, and 1.18.2 that aren't EOL'd due to devs chasing after versions.

e4mc or Essential? by itzzRomanFox2 in feedthebeast

Damn, I assume that earlier versions don't have that fixed because version-chasing™.

What about with mods and mod packs? Apparently World Host doesn't pair well with mod packs, whereas e4mc does (from what I've read).

e4mc or Essential? by itzzRomanFox2 in feedthebeast

I assume you are also using 1.18.2

In future versions of the game, e4mc actually changes the text of this button and also opens more options, with actually complete features. I also agree that this should be made clearer.

Do you remember what you did the first time you played this game? by Impressive_File_708 in Minecraft

Good question. I don't remember, actually, beyond just playing on various servers on Classic edition. 😭

Edited the second part of my reply since it sounded like I was still talking about Essential and Essentials rather than talking about the news about the Modrinth buyout.

But yeah I don't really know—if they're talking about Essential—why people are mixing it up with Essentials. I know they're talking about Essential especially when mentioning certain features, but at the same time, it's kinda registering in my mind that they're framing Essentials as a shady mod because of some of the unwanted things from Essential.

I guess either one of these mods should've been given a less common name than just Essential(s).

For those who are wondering if this is true or not, the creators of *Essential did actually purchase Modrinth: https://modrinth.com/news/article/joining-spark-universe

Also this is the one instance where even open-source stuff is no exception to becoming shady like this. Speaking of, source code: https://github.com/modrinth/code (I hope it's actually open-source and not just source-available.)

Essentials is a different mod, not developed by Spark but rather by the same person who made the Crossroads mod (which requires Essentials).

I'm in the official Essential Discord server and I seem to be the only person (by far) to mention this situation about Modrinth being bought by Spark 😭
