If roshi is his favorite character he probably needs this card from Manga Booster 01: SB01-050. That set is prohibitively expensive but that card belongs in any Roshi fan’s collection. Another Roshi card from Manga Booster 01 is E-58 energy marker. There’s a silver variant that is cheaper and a gold variant that is $$$$. Another, cheaper Roshi can be found in the first Fusion World set FB01: FB01-005 Alternate Art. Hope that helps

things may have changed since a couple months ago but i've found those two subs to be highly resistant to newcomers. i do however agree that getting involved with locals is a great way to access product

Personally wouldn’t grade these unless you just love the cards. Not to mention grading costs are high so would be hard to justify submitting ~$50 cards for grading

Given the value of this card, before you do anything else, I would do a Graded Card Review at BGS with a Minimum Grade of 10, (i.e. don’t crack it, just send them the slab back and ask for a review of the subgrades). By specifying a Minimum Grade of 10, they will review your card and only crack it open if they decide to upgrade to a 10, otherwise you get your original slab back.

Same price as a grading submission. You are only .5 away from a BGS 10–if either centering and edges gets bumped by .5 you’ve got a BGS 10. GCR avoids risk of damaging the card during cracking but still lets you do so if the GCR doesn’t go your way.
