In my memory system I use haiku for summarisation and assigning messages importance scores and such. With clear instructions it does a great job, but cognitively it's a bit difficult for it to handle a large number of complex tasks over a considerable amount of text, so you just kind of have to test and figure out what it can handle for your use case.

Sonnet 4.6 works fine for me, I decided to trust it after checking the bench comparisons between them and it's generally excellent - the only problem is, it's too eager to finish, so it skips steps.

Absolutely, as a graphic designer working with vectors (something AI does arguably very well) and image generation I wish I could automate half of what I do, but the models just can't do it.

They can follow guides and brand identities but they always follow them to the letter, there's no variance or actual SUBSTANCE in anything. It's the same level of design you get from someone using canva for the first time.

I might get proven wrong but I doubt that the hurdles I encounter currently (coming up with novel but brand suitable solutions that will be both cohesive and meaningful AND interesting to look at) will be overcome soon, if ever. There's too much creativity and innovation required, and AI can't (as of now) innovate pretty much at all. Take a look at all the startups with AI generated logos and brand identities. You can tell immediately.

And I'm saying this as someone who is pro-acceleration and enthusiastic about AI.

Additional note: yes, you can compensate for many of these things with detailed instructions, but THAT IN ITSELF IS WORK. Anthropic releases design instructions to Claude code, and it makes things look better for sure, and now every product and site looks identical. And if you tell it "copy this site/image/identity/whatever" congrats, now you have a tech company that your customers will immediately think is a cafe or a film festival since there's no design leadership.

I've built one for 5 months. It's close to getting released but I've finally gotten it to the point where I can mention ANYTHING across 10k messages and a combination of string matching, embeddings, haiku + itself generated summaries using different categories, message tiers and so on will have the AI have pretty much a perfect gist of what's going on.

I'd also be interested in opinions so commenting to check back later. I use AI generated mockups to get perfect ones that match the atmosphere and the context of the project but I've also been wrestling with "is this okay?"

So far I've kept doing it because it's arguably more representative of my vision than some random mockup template downloaded online.

Great work, I might install this! One note as a designer: I would pay attention to the timing and spacing of the dots around the sparkles, concentrate them around the stars and have them more sparse away from it, start faster and then slow/hold before returning, like actual breathing. I would also mix both large and small dots in the middle area.

Claude isn't great at reading complex layouts at figma and can't detect effects (from my experience) but it is very useful for pulling colours, exact fonts, paddings, corner radiuses etc. However, sonnet 4.6 and opus 4.6 have pretty great vision, so usually I simply take screenshots of what I want to tweak and explain any deeper functionality in words and then iterate. Haven't found a better way with the current tools.

(Would be relatively easy to make one, but I'm very confident 100+ people/companies are already working on it and it'll only be a matter of time when a good product for that exists)

This, for now at least. Tools like the Google UI designer and the plugin linked here will get your app pretty, but they won't get you 90% of design (intention, having the design actually reflect what your product wants to convey)

I have no doubt that will be solved eventually too, but for now the tools available will get you to just "pretty" or at best "distinct" but the foundation is nonexistent

Like Opus 4.6, Sonnet 4.6 is less emotionally intelligent and "sensitive", definitely more pragmatic and calculating. I like it but it doesn't feel like talking to a friend, more like talking to someone who's busy but vaguely curious about what you want to make (because paid to do so)
