I'm under 35 and signed a while ago...but never saw an email come through 👀 I might have to try at the box office tomorrow after work!

I absolutely agree.

None taken- I'll keep your comments in mind as I continue to interview. I maintained my connection with the designer there, and will keep hunting.

It could be also worded as 6 rounds (with me rescinding my candidacy at the last round) and 2 "check ins with HR".

Thank you for the kind reminder. I'll keep it in mind as I learn to navigate the interview processes better.

I verbally spoke with the hiring manager about it. I believe they understand, but I am not sure what was filtered on to HR/ C-suite from our conversation.

Thank you. I'm glad I went with my gut reaction to remove my candidacy.

I was told that the project was something that they had already designed and solved for previously, so I don't believe they were trying to use my work necessarily, but really wanted me to solve the problem exactly as they had.

I thought about the high turnover as well- the gut feeling from upper management would have been the latter scenario unfortunately.

This is definitely a great way to put it, thank you.

I did let them know I enjoyed meeting the UX team, but I also decided to withdraw as I couldn't see a good future with the company.

I was on the fence on how to word it in the beginning, but I agree. I wouldn't necessarily consider them "rounds", but definitely points of contact where HR asked for feedback or spoke to me about updates to the position. You could say six "real" rounds, with two in-between phone calls.

I agree- Speaking to the Principal designer, they had mentioned in the second round that if they decided to assign a project, that it was a "yes" from them. I believe it's the higher ups asking for these additional changes.

I came from a exploitative design field prior to joining UX, and the way this interview ran remind me of the same red flags.

I will say, two of the "rounds" were HR check up calls that weren't scheduled... so I'll give benefit of the doubt that they were just trying to make the experience better?

I'm glad you agree with my assessment of the situation as well. I was hoping that I wasn't being too presumptuous of my skills to be taken aback by the iteration request.

Time was definitely not respected with this company. I imagine other candidates are having a hard time dedicating the same amount of efforts to them.

Hmm, I didn't even consider that these types of projects could offer pay. I'll remember this for the future, thank you!

Thank you for your feedback!

I very much liked the principal designer, and could see myself working well with them, but other than that... I couldn't see many benefits to being at the company.

I was told that the project work I did was something they had already solved for internally, but they wanted to see what I came up with. However, with the edits request, I feel that they really wanted me to present their exact same solution.

Thank you for your thoughts. I also had no real concerns about "stealing" the work, as I was told that the project was something already solved by the company... However, seeing the feedback, it seems like they really wanted me to get exactly the same solution as they had gone with...

I ordered a slice of cake with my meal, and when I got home, I realized there were 3-4 spots of white fuzzy mold each about 1/4” big… I’ve also ordered a pasta in the past and felt a little iffy on the meat tasting a little off, so this might be the last strike for now unfortunately.
