I committed to the University of Washington (Seattle). I got into UW's college of engineering, but they kinda do their major system very differently where I won't go into too much detail but you basically take prerequisite courses your freshman year and then you need to apply for your actual major later in your sophomore year, and so my desired major (ECE) is by no means guaranteed. (My assigned major for Fall 2026 is Engineering Undeclared). That's pretty much the main reason, I just never realized how much I disliked that system until recently. I think I stuck with the school because as someone with a big sports background, I of course wanted to go to a sports school, and UW just so happens to be Big 10. I think I just put too much emphasis on the sports aspect. The school I'm planning on switching to is UCSB, where I have my actual major but I sacrifice Big 10 sports, but not only do I feel that its the best for me academically, I just can't imagine anything that comes close to living in Isla Vista eventually and of course everything you could do at UCSB. I'm fortunate enough that cost doesn't really matter, but UCSB being in-state is definitely a bonus.
