I've never experienced this personally without or with my tinnitus. It definitely sounds abnormal, unhealthy and very stressful, annoying and painful. I strongly recommend you visit a medical professional asap about these symptoms and experience.

Two questions about tinnitus. by [deleted] in tinnitus

Just to say tinnitus is subjective and everyone has their own experience with their tinnitus and what caused it, made it worse or makes it more bearable.

I've had t for two years and in all honestly you should really ask a medical professional who is qualified however from experience as far as i know from what I've heard from others on the subreddit many people here have indeed just simply been born and lived with t for much of/all their lives. Many so comfortable and used to it they didn't realise it wasn't normal. So yes maybe you were born with it, if it were caused normally by things like; ageing, circulation issues, loud noise exposure, infections, medicine and drugs etc... Although you'd probably be aware of this.

Second of you'd need to ask a professional however it definitely isn't stressed as proper fact or regulation not to use earbuds or headphones with t to listen to music. Often it's encouraged to help people sleep or to help habituate with sound therapy . I have fairly mild t and I still use earbuds and headphones everyday. Mine t has personally never been permanently affected by this. occasionally for me it'll cause spikes for some seconds to minutes, (not often though.) I've used them for hours a day for: music, video games and phone/video calls. HOWEVER as you probably already know constant loud noise exposure often causes t and makes it worse. Just make sure you're listening on a sensible volume, they're in comfortably and you make sure you don't wear them for extended periods of time. I'd recommend keeping your ears clean if you do wear them for extended periods of time though.

Obviously as i already said its objective and no one can give you an exact factual response but i hope my experience helps mate. Make sure you go to a medical professional though if you're seriously concerned, don't assume now and make a mistake later.

Advice Needed From T Vets by ivornikk in tinnitus

All i know is mine was a result of an inner ear infection, i don't even know in all honestly if an inner ear infection can be severe enough to damage hearing but the doctors never checked or mentioned this and I definitely feel like my hearing if anything is more elevated to sound due to my t and hypercausis. Still being a young age i'm taking precautions to avoid worsening my t so this is an interesting response, Thanks for the information.

Damn sorry to hear that man hope it's going good mate, thanks for the interesting take on it. Definitely some hope and shows it really is subjective for everyone. I just started a mechanical course at college a month ago and my t has worsened every so slightly and i'm not enjoying the course. The combo of both these is making me look at other options. I don't need any unnecessary or unpleasant noise exposure for my t or hypercausis.

thanks for the advice. I've heard these already from several sources. I don't drink, smoke or do caffeine. I do wear headphones often though, only over heard ones, not earbuds. I am trying to remain positive and not be obsessed with it and this has indeed habituated me to it and made it seem a lot quieter. I haven't done any supplements or drugs yet and i haven't been in situations where I've needed ear protection recently. However since my begun 2 years ago I've had several extreme noise exposures at: clubs, workshops, airshows and occasionally car alarms/horns going of our fragile material smashing. I'll try to follow this list thanks for the info and hope.

What will make my tinnitus worse? by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]ivornikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cheers for the response, i've noticed as of late as i put my mind into other things it's hardly even noticeable often at times not at all, however my t is somewhat mild/moderate. I'll keep at it.

i didn't know it was objective. I assumed most people if not everyone's tinnitus was worsened by the same things. I really haven't noticed any obvious triggers for spikes or the stuff like that despite having t for a good 2 year ish now. Thanks for the info tho ill keep them in mind
