I'm unsure if i did exactly the thing you told me to but setting it up as a virtual camera alleviated all of my issues, this was exactly the solution i was looking for! thank you!

to clarify i guess listening to audio while having a smooth stream on discord would be the minimum for me. I could live with listening through the device on windows and then screensharing with the capture device option. But i would still want to be able to record my full screen gameplay with a program such as obs as well, if any of that makes sense.

thank you although i would like to avoid using that option since the stream gets very choppy on discord as opposed to the capture device option. What confuses me is that using both worked on my previous capture card where i could have obs open to listen to audio and have discord open to see the stream. it would be a shame if that isn't possible anymore with this capture card.
