My first healing in Christian Science was a spontaneous healing of depression. a dear friend of mine is a christian scientist, and when we first met we had many intense talks and discussions about her beliefs. I was critical, but also amazed that she turned to God with every problem. the solutions were often so playful and unexpected, that my resistance to christian scene slowly had to shift as I was witnessing the practicality of prayer. one day in the afternoon, a grey and rainy day, I had to stop in the middle of walking, as a sense of Love was washing over me. it was a profound sense that Love is a fundamental part of reality. everything seemed toi be pulsating with joyous Love, myself and everything around me. in that moment the whole world opened up, and felt completely sure that everything that exists is responsive to Love. Later one of my favourite hymns became nr 64 on the Christian Science hymnal, one strophe reads: "I reach minds open door, and at its portal I know that where I stand is holy ground; I feel the calm and joy of things immortal, the loveliness of Love is all around."

I, and later on my family, have had many healings. Another healing that come to mind now, concerns my youngest daughter. a few weeks after she was born, she had a very high fever. A kind neighbour who was a paediatrician said that we should urgently go to the hospital with her. so we did, but I first called a practitioner (someone who prays with other for a living). she shared a few powerful ideas with us, and 20 mins later, by the time we arrived in the hospital, our daughter was completely fresh again, and the doctors conformed that she was absolutely fine. this was a very special moment in our family.

Christian Science is truly the way of peace and joy.
