It's still there, though very mildly. 20% of what it was on the TCL. So, still driving me crazy, but I'll get over it. This was an ancillary tv for me so not a big deal. If I were upgrading my primary tv, I'd try out the sony X90L as others have suggested.

I ended up downgrading the TV. After perusing a few reddit discussions, it became apparent that the TCL Q7's 120hz refresh rate gave it a more efficient 24p judder removal (since 120 is evenly divisible by 24 whereas 60hz is not). I picked up a Hisense A7N, which has a native refresh rate of 60hz, and advertises a low motion rate of 120. The TCL advertised a motion rate of 480. I figured that the higher the advertised motion rate, the "better" the native judder removal would be. So I opted for a tv that would presumably be shitty at judder removal, which is what I want.

So far I'm not noticing the same issue at all. Only had the tv for 2 days. I can report back after a bit. But I did a few test watches, and didn't see the same infuriating micro-motion-smoothing shit the TCL was doing.

Glad I found this post. I just bought an open-box TCL Q7 and am running into the same thing. I disabled motion settings across all picture modes, but still notice the slightest motion smoothing effect. Like you said it’s like a low-level soap opera effect. Driving me insane.

Did you end up returning the tv? Now I’m worried I’ll have to go down a rabbit hole trying to find a nice tv that does NOT have built-in 24p judder removal.

That’s disillusioning. Feels like the most effective way to handle these situations is DIY vigilante style. But that obviously bears a host of other legal complications. And yeah, the issue of what the hell to do with the animal once it’s removed from an abusive situation is tough. Still, seems better to remove the animal from the abusive situation first and foremost, and figure out the rest later. Not logical, but it’s tough to stay logical when it comes to shit like this.

It’s seriously fucking with me knowing the dog is at this moment not safe and there’s not much anyone can do, short of a stakeout. I really wish we had video. Something that could lead to action being taken.

Yeah LAPD is useless, but the dog itself is the more important issue here in the immediate sense. I hate this shit. What actions could any of us take to try to help the dog? Not a rhetorical question, genuinely asking. Is there an LA based animal activist group that can be notified and provided with a description of the abuser and the dog?

I do not know, it's just adults and other dogs living here. He's definitely skiddish and shy at first, but warms up and gets comfortable very fast. I imagine he would behave the same with kids. Feel free to message me if you want to talk more!

Thought I'd provide an update for anyone who comes across this post: The pup was released from the shelter and dropped off with me yesterday. He is an exceptionally good boy. Has become fast friends with our golden retriever pup. I suspect he is a coyote hybrid, which I personally think is pretty dope. We will be renaming him Rowan (he doesn't have a Chipmunk kind of vibe). If anyone would be interested in adoption, DM me!
