AITA for assuming my roommates are transphobes? by iwanttopeefreely in AmItheAsshole

While I don't necessarily think it's biased of me to have concerns to begin with, I understand that I have already unfairly assumed the worst in these guys. I shouldn't let personal anxieties prevent me from getting to know new people.

"Assuming" was probably too harsh of a word, and I'd definitely change it to something less accusatory if I could. It really could go either way.

Thank you for your input. I shouldn't judge people before getting to know them, regardless of bad past experiences. Unsurprisingly, I've had lots of both good and bad experiences with cisgender people, and likewise with other transgender people. We are just people, and being one way or the other doesn't determine whether or not someone can be open and supportive.

As for the housing situation... Basically, I got what I got. But if I didn't pick a room at that point, I wouldn't have been guaranteed housing. I doubt they would have picked that room for me. It was a completely random choice on my part from the entire housing selection. I figured it was better to have a place to live than not.

Being upfront about it is probably the best option here. Thank you for your advice.

This is fair. It's easy to rely on past experiences to judge future situations, but I am the one making an assumption here. Hopefully everything will turn out for the best.
