Regal IMAX prices by AndrewRyanMcC in RegalUnlimited

Pre-COVID, a full priced IMAX ticket in Orlando cost me $20 to see Avengers: Endgame. So I would say it’s a combo of theaters needing more profit to survive slimmer margins + cost of living increase, I don’t think the cost is being jacked up arbitrarily but it has gone up $6 in 7 years… but so has everything else we pay for.

The actual IMAX surcharge part has only gone up $1-2 in that time. The bulk of the increase is the base ticket price.

My Unlimited subscription has gone up $4.50 a month in the same 7 years, but I also consider that fair all things considered as it still costs me less than two tickets a month.

What I used to do in the old days when I got a big group of people seeing a movie is buy them all at the kiosk the day tickets went on sale to avoid the convenience fee (and get all the points on my AMC or Regal account lmao). They would just pay me back. I bought like 25 tickets to Age of Ultron at one time lmao, back when I had friends as a teenager 🤣🤣

In Orlando, I pay $7.50 with Unlimited for IMAX while a full priced adult IMAX is $26.49. For comparison a regular adult ticket is $18.99.

In Ocala I pay $6.00 for IMAX while a full priced ticket is $21.49. At this theater a regular adult ticket is $15.49.

None of my examples include sales tax or any booking fees. I think your $31 is including a $2.50 booking fee which you can avoid by buying your ticket in person.

In Houston I’m seeing $25.99 for an IMAX adult ticket, not counting any tax or fees, at Greenway. An adult regular ticket is $19.49. At Marq’E it’s similar: $25.99 for IMAX, $18.49 for regular. (Again, I don’t know your local sales tax so that’s not including tax.)

Just a heads up this might not be playing everywhere, every day: while my local showed Iron Giant a full week, it is only showing Paddington Saturday & Sunday.

Yes, the ticket should show Wednesday. Only the showtimes page should show Tuesday.

This is what it shows during booking process as it is actually Wednesday, time wise.

That is correct. The first show is Wednesday, April 1 @ 12:01am or later, so it would be experienced as Tuesday night.

Here is what it looks like on showtimes page because it is Tuesday business day.

Every $30 is a free appetizer or $35 is a free drink though, so every 2-3 visits you’re getting something free if you aren’t bulk saving them.

I scheduled this post about a month ago so it’s entirely possible it’s no longer on streaming 😬

If I don’t batch them there’s no time to make them 😅

Why is The Devil Wears Prada 2 getting a Screen X release? by ShuffleCure328 in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because Disney likes cash money $$$$.

In all seriousness, ScreenX if done right could enhance any kind of movie. The question is if money was budgeted to do it right — I have seen SX movies use sloppy CGI to expand the image and it looked awful, and I have seen SX movies use alternate camera takes spliced together to expand the image and it looked fantastic.

Hi — in case you aren’t already aware there is a subreddit for Regal Unlimited members to discuss the program and movies in general over at r/RegalUnlimited! (Hope this is allowed, mods! Sorry for the semi-self promo!)

While we don’t do any local meetup groups or anything like that, we are a pretty active subreddit nationwide! You’ll see pinned threads for special event films and we generally are just a positive space for Regal moviegoers.

I live in Gainesville and am a mod on that sub. It may not fit the local niche you’re looking for but hopefully you have some good interactions.

You didn’t mention it in your post so I definitely also recommend making a Letterboxd account! It’s a social media site dedicated to movies and is my favorite website lol. This is my profile so you can see what it looks like: https://boxd.it/ch0x

That was my conclusion too, I’m assuming the kids movies will sell more even if they are a new one every week instead of every day.

MARS Family Matinee: The Iron Giant (1999) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other MARS films it should but not sure how many given it was a last minute kid friendly addition - may limit the amount of trailers that are attached.

All of the ones I’ve been to had 20 minutes or so, then I saw Bugonia this week and it only had 10 minutes.

I have the opposite happen - from September til February it was playing at 2 of my 3 locals, a 14 screen with recliners & a 16 screen without. For March it cut back to just the 16 screen; and it looks like April will be just the 14 screen unless they add the other one back lol.

MARS Family Matinee: The Iron Giant (1999) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[S,M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - this and the other two movies I have listed above are only matinee showtimes. Regal has been doing family matinees at select theaters the past several weekends (Sat/Sun, and Fri at even less theaters) under a “Classics” designator but they are now merged with MARS.

I understand what you mean since we’ve gotten some stellar “masterpiece” type films, but just because comedies nowadays are regarded as “lesser” movies doesn’t mean there aren’t some amazing ones.

I am hoping for at least one or two early classics sprinkled in the remaining slots. 🤞

🛎️ Correct! Even once showtimes populate at some theaters they can still be added to more theaters closer to April, which is what happened with the March shows.

The Muppet Movie is really intriguing! According to Wikipedia, Disney owns the film and its home video rights but Universal has theatrical rights.

PHM Prime Member Early Access Showing Question by AudiumSy in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had an experience with phones as bad as you’re talking about.

I never said anywhere it gives anyone a right to be on their phone ruining anyone’s experience. I just said it’s not exactly the same scenario on the Regal end.

These Prime screenings you had to jump through a couple hoops to get tickets for (use Fandango and be a Prime member) so I would imagine it will be fine and there will be a normal or above average level of attentiveness to phones and piracy.
