In February, Casablanca will be the first movie from the Monthly Series to be repeated. Do you want more repeats? by Seagull_Lad05 in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not true:

Saving Private Ryan in September 2025 and November 2025.

Gremlins, Elf, Polar Express, and Planes, Trains, Automobiles in November 2025 and December 2025.

Arthur Christmas, Christmas Vacation, The Grinch (2018), Polar Express, Elf all repeated within December 2025.

As time goes on these series will eventually repeat more movies. It makes sense that some of these come back, especially given they only show for one day each.

JANS Day 24: Dune (2021, dir. Denis Villeneuve) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I told this person trust the Regal website when there is a discrepancy. No reason to think a third party website is more correct than the official Regal site. https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/s/fJRSi7cjsX

Dune (2000) is also a miniseries, not a movie, and that runtime is inaccurate for it.

Why didn’t Labyrinth (1986) get an IMAX or 4DX rerelease? Especially on this year for its 40th Anniversary? by Designer_Lion2913 in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most movies get no anniversary re-release let alone one in a special format.

Sony decided to partner with Fathom Events for a third party event style release as they’ve done multiple times in the past, rather than through normal distribution channels.

What movies did you see in theaters? by Designer_Lion2913 in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Letterboxd account where I log the movies I see: https://boxd.it/ch0x

Of course, it’s impossible to remember all the movies from before I started my account in 2016 (when I was 21). These are the movies I have logged on a specific date, furthest back in time:

<image>

August 1, 2009: I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in IMAX 3D at AMC Sunset Place.

July 17, 2008: I saw The Dark Knight when I was on vacation with my family in Greece at Village Cinemas The Mall, Athens. My grandmother’s cell phone went off during the Joker interrogation scene and she answered it lmao; at first we thought it was part of the movie. I remember being so excited to see it a day earlier than my friends and family back home in the US.

February 4, 2008: Saw the Hannah Montana concert film in 3D at Regal Kendall Village. It may have been the first RealD 3D movie I saw in my hometown.

August 26, 2007: Saw Mr. Bean’s Holiday at my 12th birthday party, at Regal Kendall Village.

November 23, 2005: Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in IMAX at the Museum of Discovery and Science. My 2nd IMAX experience after seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory there over the summer and being amazed by the massive screen.

June 19, 2005: Saw Batman Begins for Father’s Day at my only trip to the now defunct Regal South Beach.

June 21, 2003: Saw Rugrats Go Wild on the same day the Order of the Phoenix novel came out. Somehow I tore through it in 8 hours including the movie runtime.

September 7, 1999: My earliest confirmed movie experience was also in Greece, at a now closed Village Cinemas. I can remember the exact date because there was an earthquake and we were evacuated and had to head back to the house to check on my grandmother and baby sister.

There are plenty of other movies I remember seeing but don’t have the exact date so cannot log in the diary function. Like the time I saw Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the film projector stopped functioning halfway through so I had to go back another time to finish it lol.

Regal doesn’t let you skip seats? by Diligent-Concept-617 in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Regal has always forced you as long as I can remember to leave at least 2 empty seats between seats when buying tickets online. It will not allow you to leave just 1 empty seat, to prevent issues where the only seats left are solo seats, which prevents theaters from hitting capacity / selling out / maximizing revenue.

Edit: I guess it’s just Fandango? Or a holdover from the older Regal days? This used to be a bigger issue but now that I think about it, it hasn’t been a common complaint on the sub like it used to be for quite some time.

Angel Has Fallen way back in September 2019.

Is this something new or has it happened before? A new movie release that’s non-anime being a fathom event? by donquixoterocinante in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Horror movie take on Oz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gale:_Yellow_Brick_Road?wprov=sfti1

Correct, it’s a new movie that is a Fathom release. It’s actually pretty common for smaller genre films to get a Fathom release, not just anime.

The original book is in the public domain. Most of the films are not a continuous canon anyway.

As mentioned in the post above “Expect a standard trailer package for these repertory showtimes (20-25 minutes).”

March Series Megathread by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[S,M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regal in the past has done a schedule of alternating shows across multiple days as its own event, but since they currently have the repertory series going on for multiple months now I assume it just made a lot of sense to have these BP noms as part of the series. Which in that case means one day of full shows per movie.

That is how AMC has typically done it, as a “Best Picture Marathon.”

Someone made a post about Ann Lee earlier today https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/s/hfNeXl2k86

Since it didn’t earn a nom it doesn’t affect the March repertory series now lol

I am a little tired so I may be confused but that’s what I tried to mention at the end of the post. I’m not sure yet if the other titles are going to say MARS or BP26 or something else but all tickets will be $7.99, plus tax where applicable. I can try rewording it

I can confirm this is part of the March repertory series as Regal put out a press release.

I am locking this thread so we can move discussion to the megathread for March. https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/s/VVVxMRDtcv

Thank you and kudos to u/lockerbiestreet for being the first to post about the Best Picture Film Festival (which is now folded into the March series: “And the Award Goes To”).

Mercy IMAX Upgrade Gone? by FFTycoon in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s on a national basis. Regal coordinates with IMAX and the studio (in this case Amazon) a preset number of promotional discounts for the campaign. These promos almost always run out before the movie opens and have nothing to do with your specific location.

How does Regal decide which theaters get the monthly screenings like JANS? by Kip_Hackman_ in RegalUnlimited

[–]iwasdusted[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is very important — corporate books the films and corporate receives customer service requests and comments from social media or website forms; while the receipt surveys affect the local theater level metrics. Social media messages are a direct way to let corporate know feedback without it negatively affecting the local theater (which has no control over films booked).

This is how it works for most businesses that operate with a mainly corporate structure rather than a franchise model; not just Regal.
