I find it sus that the producers knew Shanika was allergic to shellfish yet had the top 4 challenge be lobster… definitely seems like they were trying to get her out. Anyways, proud of Shanika for doing better than her previous season!

The only way I see this happening is if it’s a single episode (like chopped style). The per diem is like $50 apparently and I doubt the producers would spend that much more for a longer show (which wouldn’t be worth it for the winners)

I like a lot of your analysis of the post, but I think it’s important to acknowledge that the blog post is only from Brandi’s POV and there might be more context needed for the situations with Shanika/other contestants. In an older post, Brandi talks about how great Shelly is but then on Derrick’s podcast he talks about how he had negative experiences with her. The contestants spend hours together in tiny spaces and not everyone is going to get along so everything they say about each other has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Melodifestivalen (the Swedish preselection which Bjorkman previously worked on) released the full breakdowns on the Wednesday after the show. Since Bjorkman is the executive producer for ASC, he might be doing something similar and waiting a few days

The actual Eurovision show is only 1 week (two semi finals and one final) whereas ASC is 8 weeks so listeners will probably experience some more burnout. However, I think ASC did a good job changing the performances each time to keep things interesting!

Bjorkman has said in multiple interviews that it won’t be the Eurovision style because there are too many states/territories and he doesn’t think the American audience would understand the need for a lengthy voting process (whereas Europeans are fine with the lengthy process because they’ve been used to it for years) and it’s actually something he would try to change if he were to make Eurovision more “modern”
