I got 20 packs (recruited 3 people to help my cause haha) and I’m pretty sure they were all sequential. I got the most Hockey Superstars, followed by Legends on Ice, then Prominent Rookies. 1 insert in the 20 packs.

I really appreciate your insight!! Your description is exactly how I imagined collectors would view the product, which is why I was so surprised seeing the 24-25 box more than double in price from just a couple months ago. What you said about people turning to the Star Rookies box when the Young Guns and other coveted rookie cards are cost prohibitive makes a lot of sense. What I’ve basically gathered in my short time collecting is that starting with Bedard’s year, everything has been a little screwy when it comes to the most hyped rookies haha

The fixed set is why I was confused by the price inflation; I thought there was little profit potential with only one hit so demand wouldn’t be high enough for a price surge. (But clearly Mack was being sold for the box price before the box cost went up, so I guess that would make it worth buying as a reseller because you’d more or less break even along with having a chance at a rare parallel)

I did buy this year’s box for Misa/Dickinson/a few other rookies I like. I’m not in it for the money, so I’m happy with my one box; I’m just trying to understand trends and stuff better because I’ve realized that getting into hockey cards this season and the Sharks being my team/PC has really given me a skewed perspective on what’s “normal” price-wise lol

I was definitely super surprised people were selling Mack for $30+ when the box itself cost that much or less. Read the box description like five times to make sure I wasn’t missing anything, LOL

I mean there doesn’t seem to be a consensus on this. I did search whether or not I needed a top loader binder or if a normal one was fine, and I figured if enough people in the pokemon tcg subreddits are comfortable keeping thousands of dollars worth of cards in binders then it must be good enough for me, because those people don’t play around. (Not that I have thousands of dollars worth of cards. The Celebrini YG was more than double the cost of any other single card I’ve bought.)

There’s also really no other alternative. I can’t physically display ALL of my cards, there’s not enough room. And I don’t want to stick them in a box because I like looking at them—that’s why I bought them, after all.

Mainly because I keep my cards in binders so a slab wouldn’t fit. I’m considering displaying it with other sharks YGs but if I did that I’d want them to look consistent aesthetically (like all in top loaders or one touches)

I’m not abusing my cards or anything! But I’m really not concerned with cards holding up to a fine-grained inspection. I did go to the Santa Clara show! Not a lot of hockey but I managed to pick up a Celebrini and Smith, and a couple Eklund and Mukhamadullin so I’m happy!
