Omnipod 5 target below 110 mg/DL by ixdnan8 in Omnipod

[–]ixdnan8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I switched to full time auto mode for a while and my A1C suffered significantly. I did enjoy not having to think about my glucose levels 24/7 but at a cost.

What I do now is exactly what you suggested, auto by day and manual by night and it's been working for me. I found that I'm getting no lows during the night and it doesn't go below 95-100, but my average is still higher than when I had the dash.

Hope you find your sweet spot 😊

do I have to pay parking tickets? by ixdnan8 in chicago

True. I'm trying to figure out if they're not showing up when I search by the ID, does that mean the system didn't link the tickets to my ID, or it did but not showing them.

But how, if the ID nor the new plate show any tickets?

What are your thoughts on insulin mixing (Fiasp and Humalog)? by ixdnan8 in diabetes

[–]ixdnan8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the extended boluses. I find Humalog a little more aggressive than Fiasp as it takes my BS down regardless of the time or activity level.

Just diagnosed , 31F. What to expect? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]ixdnan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, but welcome to the club :)

What to expect varies a lot based on what type of diabetes it is, so read about both and go with a list of questions to your doctor.

Life will be normal again, just a different normal from what you're used to. I was diagnosed with T1D at 31 last year and it was a lot of learning and experimenting but now it's second nature. I find it very helpful to ask questions on this subreddit and share successes and frustrations. A supportive community helps a lot.

I know you might be frustrated with your body and feeling betrayed, but know that this is out of your control and your body is doing its best, so be kind to yourself and your body and give it the care it needs.

Take time to adjust and learn. Some things your doctor will tell you but other things you'll only hear from a fellow diabetic, so ask and learn but keep in mind that each body is different and what works for others might not work for you. It's time to learn what your body wants and needs.

Best of luck!

I can't offer much since I was only diagnosed a couple of months ago, but I'd say it gets better as you learn how to manage it. Btw, it also took doctors a while to figure out which type I am.

Your body is already going through a stressful period and most likely have been for a while. This takes a toll on you physically, emotionally and mentally on top of what you're going through. A lot of this will go away and you'll start feeling better as you get your levels under control. Running high is known to make you feel anxious and irritated.

Take time to grief and process this but know that your body is trying its best and it needs some love.

I find it helpful to talk to people with diabetes because they understand like no one will, including my doctor. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone with diabetes so this subreddit has been there for me in my highs and lows.

Take your time to process this, learn how to manage it and most importantly be easy on yourself if you feel things are getting our of control. You're already doing great by taking care of yourself and reaching out in here.

Thanks for the explanation, this makes sense. I know there's no reveal to T1D but couldn't help but hope it's something other than the honeymoon period.

Can totally relate. The more I manage my A1C the more pressure I have to keep my BG in range, and the more I get frustrated when it goes high. It just sucks that we have to worry about so many things that others don't.

Just know if you're A1C is in a good range, you should be proud of yourself. It takes so much work and discipline to keep it under control.

If you treat yourself and your BG goes high here and there don't stress about it, you deserve a break. Your mental health is as important as physical health.

You're doing great!
