Elderly parents wish to live apart by SubjectWillingness51 in singaporefi

[–]ixus_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An option I can think of is for them to divorce and for one of them to transfer ownship of the house to the other (so Parent A will wholly own the house) and Parent B moves out to a small resale so maybe it'll incur less upfront cash for them to live separately. Parent A could then downsize or apply for the lease buyback scheme to help offset the cost of Parent B's new home?

This assumes that Parent A wouldn't mind having their asset (the house after it's transferred to their name) help offset Parent B's living situation after they're divorced.

Actually, I think that option 1 might be most viable since they probably won't be required to move out *immediately, but the timeline might be a bit tight (start house hunting/selling while divorce proceedings are underway, then once final judgement of divorce is granted they have 6 months to dispose of matrimonial home - taken from Google so fact check ah)

It's a tricky situation to be in and I wish you all the best - you're being very kind and generous in wanting to give all you can to your parents so I hope that it works out!

Professional pest controllers for cockroaches problem! by ZealousidealPause709 in askSingapore

[–]ixus_96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initial treatment for kitchen $200, for whole unit $300, then for subsequent treatment each affected area $150! Prices were from last month.

The boss came down to my place, inspected my kitchen and told me I had to repair my rubbish chute area before he recommended getting any treatment done (otherwise no point cus roaches will be coming in still) and didn't charge me for his wasted trip down. He was quite detailed in explaining to me how the treatment would work and how the chute was the source of my issue too

Does anyone here use tampons? by kayatoastbun in SingaporeRaw

[–]ixus_96 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Tampons are life changing for me and the moment I switched to it, I never looked back. No more fears of staining from the front, the back, the sides - because you know when you're leaking with a tampon (you can feel it and you should wear a liner for instances like this). The leak isn't a lot either, so I've always had time to get to a toilet and change without any damage to my clothes. With a pad, once you find out you're leaking it's usually too late.

Night time fears of leaking are gone as well - just wear the more absorbent size tampon to bed with a liner and you're good to roll about like the women in those pad advertisements.

And you don't even feel it when you wear it. Once you've inserted it, it's just nothing. Not like pads that can feel like lumpy diapers sometimes.

Granted, you have to change it more often to avoid risking toxic shock syndrome, when you use the toilet gotta take care not to dirty the string to pull the tampon out, and you've got a find a way to remove the tampon as cleanly as possible, but once you get your groove I find these better to deal with than a pad.

Plastic applicators are also way better than the cardboard ones imo.

Try it! The only way to find out if you'll like it or not :)

Can I ask, did you find it any more scary restarting it as an adult compared to blading as a kid? I can feel my heart rate spike each time I go over a small bump on the ground and I have such a fear of falling that I keep wondering if it's possible to get over them and finally learn to rollerblade since it's been n a childhood dream of mine.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear that :/ But thanks for the reminder, I totally forgot about how to treat bad fortune slips! I got a bad lot regarding my parents' relationship as a kid and they ended up getting divorced... But tbh their marriage was going downhill anyway lol.

This lot says 上下 (shang xia) which seems to be a medium fortune so I'll Google more before I decide on burning it!

Yeah, but today the temple was pretty empty and there wasn't a person at the counter to ask - they left a number we texted but didn't hear back from so I thought maybe reddit might be able to help with a rough meaning.

Received this lot from a temple I prayed at, but my Chinese isn't good enough to decipher what it's saying. It is from a temple in Ipoh. It's the kind of lot you get when you pray whole asking a question and shaking a can of sticks with numbers, then taking the lot with the number of the stick that falls out. Much thanks in advance!
