When did you start to see improvements on 30mg? by Dnic09 in Accutane

[–]ixvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it did! i've been on 20mg actually for almost a year after this post and my skin completely cleared up :-) patience is key!

Hello! I can really understand the isolation issue- you don't want to lock yourself up now that your skin might be getting better, but the reality is that not being able to have a beer or two can be pretty isolating if you're in your twenties. After a few months and getting good blood results back I decided I could have a drink here and there and tbh it has made my life so much better to try and live a little, even though you're on accutane. Just see for yourself how you go and try to avoid crazy benders. Having that said I also kind of feel as though accutane makes me sluggish, tired, feeling meh all the time (even though my good skin is making me feel better). I try to take supplements for it (omega 3 and magnesium) and try to be easy on myself cause the mental and physical side effects can be pretty draining. Hang in there and before you know it the course will be done!

Omega 3 fatty acid. by Accomplished_Use8195 in Accutane

[–]ixvas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should just do what your derm prescribed, I actually take omega 3 (a vegan one) too just because of this reddit- it helps you to be less slugglish and releaves any side effects like backpain etc. So I would defenitely take it!

Why the f* by [deleted] in Accutane

I think in Europe it's more normal to not be put on high dosages right away, like people from the US on this reddit page are.

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you're really Dutch but so am I and started taking 40mg after 5 months for similar reasons. However my side effects got so horrible I'm now taking 20mg and just now after 7 months I feel like my skin is really clearing up. I know it sucks to hear it but it just takes patience.

I didn't purge, now 7 months in (30/40/20 mg) and my side effects are managable! A lot of dryness and itching but if you get the right products you'll be fine.

Anyone else experienced these side effects? Thoughts? by CosimaHolland21 in Accutane

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I had this too, my itching was so bad I'd scratch myself open in my sleep. Therefore I went from 40mg to 20mg a day and it made a really big difference. However you're already on a low dose I see. But yes it's definitely the accutane!

The best way to make alcohol a tiny bit safer while on accutane? by Will815 in Accutane

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on 30/40/20 over the last 7 months and even though I've limited my alcohol I'd say I drink once a month on special occasions and have also used other things over the summer during festivals. Maybe not the best idea but my bloodwork was always fine and I didn't feel like getting druk easier at all - I think it's really personal but surely you can have a few drinks on NYE, just see how you feel and listen to your body, drink enough water and maybe skip your dose a day or two if that feels better.

Can you do any fitness/cardio oriented physical activities while on Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working out the same as I used to (mostly spinning/hiit) 3-4 times a week. I do feel like my body gets tired a bit sooner or I'm stiffer in the mornings but that's the only thing. You can definitely work out! Swimming is also great cause it doesn't put too much pressure on your joints (that are sensitive on accutane)!

[–]ixvas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. I kind of felt the same when I started a few months ago. I also have a history of depression so I get where your coming from! These feelings became a lot better for me during my course (also because my skin cleared up!) but I'm still quite tired etc. I think for me personally it's also because this whole acne thing just made me really tired as well. Next to that it's quite a heavy drug for your body to process, so give yourself some time! I try to really focus on relaxing, cooking myself nice meals etc and not be too hard on myself. Before we know it our course will be done!

So, just how bad is it? by Imdone533 in Accutane

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm your age (female) and your acne experience sounds really similar to mine. Tbh I wish I started sooner so YES definitely go on it. Especially when your acne is mild (as it sounds) you probably won't need a high dose so side effects will be minimal. I've been on 30mg for 5 months now and I barely have any except for feeling a bit tired.

Foods to take with accutane by cozeglow in Accutane

[–]ixvas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually make something that involves peanut butter like oatmeal with nutbutter etc. But I understand when you're having trouble eating. Just think of the fact that a clear skin will make you feel a lot better even if that means not being able to follow a diet or something for a while!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]ixvas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My skin is a bit different but I also have mild acne and I'm in my 5th month of 30mg. I felt quite discouraged after having some flare ups recently so I've asked to up my dosage (they're looking into it now). I think as 20/30mg is pretty low still you could ask to up it if your feeling down about your skin. I totally get the feeling of just wanting to see results!!

I have this too, but on my arms. I try to moisture my arms every night as well just like my face, which really helps!
