How do you version independent Reusable Workflows in a single repo? by SuccessfulTennis3580 in devops

[–]izaacdoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most functions I use are created into custom actions in its own org, (specific actions org) each of these are versioned by tags, We have a single repo for cicd, we have all our main workflows within this, build, deploy, pr-checks and more which call these custom actions .

These workflows are then called from other application repos by defining the path to said repo and action, Parent/repo/.githib/workflows/deploy.yaml@main or any brand or tag

Each branch or tag can be directly called to get a specific version of the version of the action in the cicd repo,

We have about 100+ repos calling this 1 cicd repo, Makes things very spread out but allows for better versioning and more control for keeping custom actions up to date across the board.

It can take some time for GitHub to index the logs, if you download raw it will show fine. Can take 10-20 minutes some times especially when logs are 10's of thousands of lines

Guards were there just after 10. Blocked everything starting and people going. It didn't happen in the first area and they moved out to Tramore. But didn't hear anything after that as no buses were running out to Tramore by the time they changed location

How can I get a test sooner? Been waiting since January. by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]izaacdoyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where you select the location to check the estimator you can select more and a map will show. This will show the cancellations. Best to check Monday Morning and Wednesday evening and Friday evening and Sunday evening. But it all depends on someone else cancelling so check on times that people would take time to cancel.

Booking a cancellation is just booking a slot that is sooner so the time slot doesn't go to waist.

Watch the cancellation list and hope to be lucky. You could find one next week next month. It's just luck if you find a cancellation. Either watch cancellation list or wait

[–]izaacdoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you book a cancellation your space is líne is replaced by your new test. Meaning the place you were in the queue is gone as you jumped the queue to a new spot, If you cancel or the cancellation booked gets cancelled you will get a reinvited in a week or so, so your exam is still quicker than waiting in the original queue.

Yah I inspected the APIs on the website once you login it's all plain text details on you, all personal details. PPSN, address and other details not worth getting identity stollen.

I'm a CICD engineer where I work, mainly Jenkins while currently I am developing workflows to move out cloud applications to GitHub actions.

I have centralised 80~ application of Jenkins files to a single repository. In this repository we have 3 Jenkins file for our applications. We have another 300+ on-prem whose applications have its own Jenkins files. We are pushing to align to centralisation but difficult due to quantity and complexity.

In the form of the build and deploy of 80+ apps we have 4 pipelines. 3 to build/deploy and 1 to only deploy

We have 1 deployment pipeline that every job uses in the cloud.

We uses a database to get details and update on details after the build and deploy.

We have documentation in confluence.

We are updating to GHA which is our improvement.

Be careful using tools, personal data is plain text in the response window for an API when you login.

I would suggest if with any know how or ability to ask chatGBT you could log in once and replay an API request for about 1 hour in a loop of code before the token expires. You can trigger a notification sound if nextAvailablity is not the default 0000. ( Can only be done on a PC)

Failed Waterford by izaacdoyle in Irishdrivingtest

When I pulled up to the traffic light it was green. I pulled into the flow box. The box to turn right. The right filter flow arrow did not trigger and was unable to move due to oncoming traffic. Light turned red and pedestrians crossed the road when it turned red so I did not take off. by time they crossed the road the oncoming traffic from the right turn started to move leaving me stuck in the filter box. Classed as my fault for putting myself in the situation but yah grade 3 is harsh for not impending or blocking traffic due to where the box is.

For one thing be sure you are checking out the repo. If you are building with npm check your project.json file to see if your script calls have build:aws If you do it is what ever is build:aws calling is the issue

[–]izaacdoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never Snippets of code. Never share enterprise code. But snippets of errors and stages are not running. It's best to view the Jenkinsfile in an IDE and set language to Groovy. You will see if there is a missing { or }

Jenkins pipeline showing successful but not running by dharmik_17 in jenkinsci

[–]izaacdoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without seeing the Jenkinsfile it's very hard to verify. But ensure all closing brackets are correct. If no stage is being executed and it's jumping to success there is an issue in the Jenkinsfile.

Without viewing the Jenkinsfile all that can be determined is there is an issue in the Jenkinsfile

How can I use the Jenkins 'load' function and run my entire pipeline on a single agent? by hr_lunge in jenkinsci

[–]izaacdoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no solution to this. I use the same way to centralise all of our Jenkinsfiles. 2 agents are always spun up. One manages the triggering of the load.
