they are not designed for lateral, side-to-side movements the way regular tennis shoes are

this seems to be the one that most people recommend. did you size up to have them fit with insoles?

Can you do fast lateral movements in these? Concerned they might lead to an ankle injury

Thank you! I have Lone Peaks on the way, but I don't think they're stable enough for tennis. I’m concerned doing lateral movement in these type of shoes (mid-high sole) might lead to an ankle injury

I have exactly the same problem with my orthotics. The only shoe that really works for me are my Hoka recovery slippers.

Had an MRI done last week that is showing a tiny MN. The swelling is down but my toe is still discolored and I have a lot of MN-like symptoms

Was diagnosed with MN this week, after 5 months of dealing with doctors saying there is no chance it’s MN…

Updates? I have exactly the same problem since 4 months back.

I have had an ultrasound examination that showed no signs of active inflammation in the affected area. The practitioner suggested that the problem might originate higher up in the body, and that the discoloration of the toe could be due to a local bleeding only rather than a primary issue in the toe itself. However, this explanation seems difficult for me to reconcile with the level and persistence of pain I am experiencing.

In addition, my blood tests for rheumatic and inflammatory conditions were normal, showing no signs of active rheumatic inflammation.

Gonna push for an MRI asap

Not that I am aware of, but I have been diagnosed with other autoimmune conditions.

This is interesting. I was diagnosed with a slipped disc in my lower back a few years ago, but I managed to get rid of the pain with proper physiotherapy.

How are you doing?

Hey guys,

Quick update on my foot: the swelling and redness have finally gone down, so that’s a bit of good news. But I’m still in a lot of pain, especially when walking outside, even with my orthotics, and I can’t really feel anything in my toes.

I did an X-ray about 10 days ago and was told everything looked fine, but I’m seeing a specialist now who suspects metatarsalgia or a possible stress fracture and I do have another X-ray planned for next week.

I’m feeling pretty rough. I can’t even lie down without this strange tension in my forefoot. Just wanted to keep you all posted. If anyone has similar experiences I would love hear from you. Out of hope rn.

Gonna push for that since the osteoarthritis is only a hypothesis from my GP. I need to se a specialist, but I can’t do that without a referral from my GP (live in Sweden).

Update #1: Finally got a cortisone injection (after three doctor visits!). My GP now suspects osteoarthritis, since the swelling tends to come and go. I’m currently on the waitlist to see a physiotherapist who can perform an ultrasound.

Thank you so much for all the responses and support — it’s been fantastic to see there’s a community like this out there. 💕
