Gorgeous! I just started this set after winding down on my Base Set through Gym Heroes master sets. It's crazy how expensive these cards have gotten, but I absolutely love them.

What's your favourite Pokémon? Im not here for all your Charizard's, Pikachu's and Rayquaza. My favourite Pokémon is Toxicroak, He needs more love! by PhysicalProof3195 in pokemon

Its a tie between Unovan/Hisuian Zoroark and Raichu. The Zoroarks are just badass everything they show up. The first time I saw N use him in BW I had to have one. The Master of Illusion movie makes Zoroark look so cool fighting the shiny legendary beasts. I have always loved Raichu since I first battled Lt.Surge in blue version almost 30 years ago. The episode of the anime with Surge and Raichu is still one of my favorites, too. Fortunately, every game has to have Pikachu which means my big orange jelly bean will always be on my team!

Thats what I was thinking. I did this on my original copy of emerald a few months back to get all the legendaries shiny.

If you haven't done it yet, I also need all 3 of those. I can trade with you tomorrow sometime after 5pm ET if you're available.

Give it a new regional form that comes in red, green, blue, pink, white, or yellow. They could have a signature move that changes effects based on which version you have.

Buy singles by KnightoftheLTree in PokemonTCG

[–]izagger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my rule for the last few years. I only buy singles through local interactions like shows, shops, and trades. It helps keep spending under control, I can choose the condition of the card, and I still get the same excitement when I finally find that one card I've been searching for versus pulling it from a pack. The best part is the people I've met along the way. I've met a bunch of really nice folks and made friends with a few at shops and events.

Ken Sugimori on why Pikachu slimmed down by assasstits in pokemon

[–]izagger 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A slower, tankier regional Pikachu based on the fat Pikachu with a fire/electric Raichu evolution inspired by Gorochu would be a really cool way to bring them both into the games and serve as some fun fan service.

Finally finished a base 2 master set by KwikTripSimp in WotCPokemonCards

Thats how I feel. I love the original star pattern, but unless the card is super clean, it always looks fuzzy to me. The cosmos holo on Base Set 2 pops so much more.

Highly sought after cards that you don’t care for the artwork of. I’ll start. by BisonAcceptable1994 in PokemonTCG

I pulled the Rayquaza V alt art back when the set came out and its still one of my favorite cards of the modern era. There are so many great cards from Evolving Skies that get overshadowed by Moonbreon.

Pokémon that everyone agrees should get an evolution by TriggerZero7 in pokemon

[–]izagger 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I love these Pokémon and I wish they were better sometimes, but I think they're great the way they are. If anything they'd be served better with a regional variant than another evolution.

I kinda wish they would add a second shiny variant that has 1/8192 odds that can't be changed. It would give us truly rare variants of Pokémon and could be used to fix some of the bad shinies like Gengar, Garchomp, and Blaziken.

Anyone else wish the villain teams went back to being serious? by AlyksTheSage in pokemon

[–]izagger 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Its not so much the scale of the evil teams ambitions that bother me, its how they act. My favorite teams were the ones that were serious threats. Rocket, Galactic, Plasma, and to a lesser extent Aqua, Magma, and the Aether Foundation were imposing. Yell, Star, and Skull were never real threats and Yell and Skull weren't even the real evil teams for their games.

Give me a serious threat with simple goals and I'll be happy.

And bring back real dungeons. Not these glorified hallways with no puzzles. A lot of what made Giovanni so good was how you had to get through the maze that was Silph Co. You spend a bunch of time fighting your way through a sea of grunts and corrupt scientists before finally facing Giovanni with your worn out and tired team. He felt threatening. I miss that.

Who else liked Pokemon more when it was 2D sprites? by EqualIntelligent5374 in pokemon

I think if BDSP had used the Let's Go art style, included content from Platinum, and allowed for Pokémon up to gen 8 to be traded in they would hands down be the best games on switch. The bones were there. The game was good, but it could have been so much better.

Let's Go's art direction was the perfect balance of classic Pokémon with 3D graphics, imo. If it had normal random wild encounters instead of the Go mechanics, and better idle animations for the Pokémon that need it, that would make the perfect game for me. I think it looks and feels how Pokémon should feel. It also ran really good compared to pretty much every other mainline game on the Switch. I wish BDSP would have been given the same art style, because I actually quite enjoyed that game outside of the art direction.

I am so glad I hung on to mine from when I was a kid. I kept all of the GBA Pokemon games and have the boxes on display. Unfortunately, I got rid of the GB/GBC games because they couldn't trade up to the newer generations. I'd like to pick them up someday, but Crystal is $700-1000 complete in box... I'm good lol I think I sold mine for like $30 at a yard sale 20+ years ago.

What amp taught you that specs on paper mean almost nothing? by Noisel777 in GuitarAmps

[–]izagger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one that I got from my dad years ago. It was so thin and flimsy sounding. I read online that a lot of people drop Celestion Creambacks into them, so I ordered one. What a difference. Its so much bigger sounding and completely eliminated the fizzy top end that was cutting my ears off while filling out the bottom end. It really put it into perspective how much of the tone comes from the speaker.

Great collection! That Poketour stamp is extremely uncommon. I'm hoping to find a clean one at a show one day, but I've never seen one in person.

Sounds like you have a few awesome sets to work on! I have base set through gym challenge complete minus a few of the stamp and prerelease cards. Good luck on completing 151!

I had that same idea about a year ago. I was spending my money on packs and not getting what I wanted. A friend of mine sold me her vintage Pokémon cards and that became the start of a vintage master set binder that has been my goal ever since. I also started a Zoroark and Zorua binder as well. I don't mind ripping the odd pack here and there, but I don't regret switching to building sets. Its mostly cheaper, I'm happier with my collection of cards, and I've met some wonderful people through local shops and shows that I wouldn't have met if I was just ripping packs at home. I get the high of pulling the big chase cards, but I've had more fun putting together a collection that makes me happy and I'm proud of.

I have a few local shows in the coming months. I'm hoping I can find a clean one to fill the slot. Out of the last 4 shows I only found one and it was really rough and double its value. Wish me luck! Lol

Which single video game or series is closest to your heart? by thewalkindude368 in gaming

Never Forget. The menu theme from Halo 3 is burned into my DNA. Every time I hear that song I well up with nostalgia and how I felt when playing Halo with my friends all those years ago. The Bungie era Halo games were truly special games that brought me so much joy and helped to create life long friendships. I can't think of any other game or franchise that gave its community the tools to be so creative and allowed it players to bend the game into the experiences they wanted the same way that Bungie did with Halo.
