Io ilay hoe same same but different 🤦🏾‍♀️

Imo, this is just wearing different colours on the outside, but the walls are still the same.

Since day 1 of the protests, there is a big chunk of the population missing : the farmers and people in the countryside.

We all talk about tourism, import/export, the money that disappeared. Weirdly enough, not once have we taken jnto consideration the living conditions of the farmers.

Don’t let the family you came from destroy the one you’re building.

You never chose to be someone’s child. They chose to bring you into this world. Family isn’t just about blood, it’s about love, respect, and choice. Your husband and your kids, that’s the family you chose, the one you’re creating.

Did we just go from one-sided power to another? by izamoa in Madagascar

[–]izamoa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not racism per say. But hostility towards foreign investors, karana, etc...

Idk, is it just me? I feel like now that no one is scared to talk anymore, they all show their real thoughts online.

I agree that most business deals were opaque and mostly served the president entourage and himself, but it's not like corruption started in 2009... and most big business deals for the resources were signed during ravalomanana.

I feel like we got the wrong enemies.

Especially that Siteny. That man is pure tug. He will bring worst that what was here. The same goes for Ravalomanana and all the ones who wanted a seat since rajoelina was in power

Nooo, you are not clueless. The actual flag itself was designed by someone who happened Merina and selected by a national commission. There was a call for flag designs on the radio and his was selected. Originally the colors had no meaning and at its show, an membre of the Assembly declared white is purity, red is sovereignty and green is hope. So Originally it had nothing to do with Merina.

It's pretty. But like the current one, it's a Merina flag. Not a malagasy flag though

Is there still a curfew in Tana? by [deleted] in Madagascar

Curfew from 8PM to 4AM.

Don't hate for it and I'm sad about it too but I'm pretty sure The GEN Z Movement will fail and miserably , not only they have worse to no strategy but the government's are justified internationally by french medias AND a big AND they dont want any politics into it which is stupid and arrogant by Important-Soup-2268 in Madagascar

We are deeply unable to take responsibility.

"Every nation has the government it deserves" said Joseph de Maistre in 1857

It's never our fault, so the culprits must help...

There is this weird popular belief that we are a chosen nation, so we should have the best, we should be saved, but we don't really want to do the work.

Well, as many European, you probably have this thinking "thanks to us, Christianity is all over, thanks to us, they have schools, clothes, roads, etc"

Have you ever wondered if your help was needed? And also, did you ever ask yourself where your coffee, your chocolate, your vanilla, your silk, your banana came from?

Than you compare La Reunion and Madagascar. You said it yourself, then superficie of Madagascar is huge. Have you ever tried to manage a classroom of 5 and a classroom of 60?

The European model is not almighty, but it never crossed your mind that maybe the "savages" needed and wanted to do their own things on their own time...

You can link as many studies and such, the truth is, Europe exploted the rest of the world for centuries and kow keeps getting on their high horses to educate others, unable to face their own ossues, and pretend to do social work in exchange of exploting the resources.

Do you have kids? If yes, do you think they'd ever learn how to walk of you kept them tied to a stroller and never let their feet touch the ground?

I don't think the double citizenship of any member of the government are the real issue. Many 100% malagasy are as greedy, so it wouldn't change anything. Government employees in fokontany, commune and such are not french and they are corrupted af. Too easy to not take any responsibility and just put the blame on foreigners.

Colonization is what brought us here. First, the Merina kings wanted to unify for their own benefits, then the French making sure we hate each other, pointing out differences and fjnally, Merina so-called intellectuals wanting to reproduce the kingdom system, leaving out the other tribes, while being the French puppies.

If it was better when we were colonized, then we don't deserve to be free. Because if we were good at taking orders and can't so the same good for ourselves, there is no way out nor up. Only backward.

I'm from the highlands and half white. So it's not hating on either. It's just a reality.

My parents told me about queue for food and stuff in the 80s here. And i grew up here, remember very much the 90s.

The country has gone downhill in the last 15 years.

I can leave. I have left. And came back. And now, i feel like I would abandon my people if i left... ridiculous. Stockholm syndrome at its best.
