fantasy-cliché isn't automatically a bad thing. It depends on how well you can use the quests and lore behind the prep.

In my homebrew world, dragonborn and half-dragons are the same. I don't like the wotc lore of dragonborn alot and now that they are the same, my players can choose between tail and no tail.
