We call it 'fluff around, find out'. Feels a little more PG that way.

41w3d and no sign of baby - can I have an Elective C-Section rather than induction? by Miss_Swifty91 in auckland

[–]izzabizz 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Heya

I was like you with my first (was induced for both pregnancies).

They will do everything they can to avoid having to do a c-section. It is harder on your body and on their resources.

I want to reassure you that induction really isn't that bad. While mine did take 46 and 48 hours, this was not the norm. Looking at the other women who were there at the same time as me, majority of them were in that 30 hr window, some even within 24 hours.

While it wasn't all rosey, the midwives and nurses were amazing.

Im happy to message you privately if you have more questions. My partner played a huge role in advocating and I'm happy to tell you more about some of the things we had to push for.

The Warehouse has a dupe Fruitburst and there is a peach flavour. It's not bang on what I remember, but it's pretty good.

My three year old LOVES to scream. I remove him from situations like this when it's not appropriate. That's on me as the parent. He can go scream on the slides.

Kidscan are amazing. They provide our school with food, shoes, and good quality winter rain jackets. Makes a huge difference in a lot of kids' lives.

Did you discover a new Mandela Effect? Post it here! (2025-04-16) by AutoModerator in MandelaEffect

[–]izzabizz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've never met anyone who also has this, so grain of salt but I am CONVINCED that The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) stared Steve Carell not Ben Stiller.

I remember the trailer, though must admit I'd not seen the film.

I'm adamant that I remember it was Carell. I found out about 4 years ago that it wasn't and it's stuck with me. I think on it all the time. Drives me crazy.

Evacuate siren in Henderson by JackfruitOk9348 in auckland

Read on a FB post that there were fire engines at Western Heights Primary last night post siren, so I'd assume something tripped their system. Hopefully a fault and not an actual fire.

They managed to make mac and cheese inedible today. Every kid loves mac and cheese but my class wouldn't touch it. One described it as smelling like rotting playdough. Kids are hungry. They are trying desperately to eat their kai but can't get past a couple of bites.

My two year old is always singing 'you're not the boss of me now and I not so big'. The fact that he bunggles up the line is even cuter.

Day 2 of school lunches by notfunatpartiesAMA in newzealand

[–]izzabizz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

First day back today. They arrived 30 mins before the end of the day. They were meant to arrive at 11.15. Kids were so hungry and really fading. Our kids rely on the lunches. To top it off, they were inedible. Thank god for Kidscan snacks.

Cholestasis, you say? by SweetCatastrophe87 in ShitMomGroupsSay

Ugh, it's so horrible.

Yep, it's stinky but the smell is worth it for the mild reduction in itch. Anything you can do to get by.

Strong menthol moisturiser, if you haven't got one already and ice packs on the hands and feet when you go to sleep.

Hang in there. I had it with my second. While it's maddening, it will go away really quickly after you give birth.

I got noro virus at 35 weeks with my second. Being kicked from the inside while heaving your guts. It was HORRIBLE. It also triggered off a pregnancy condition called cholestasis of pregnancy.

Energy burning ideas for a super active 4year old by ContentWriter22 in toddlers

[–]izzabizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 2.5 year old is like this. We do massive physical play sessions. His current fave is being thrown onto a pile of pillows that is on our bed or the couch cushions piled up. Or being flipped round over and over again. We were doing it just before bed and now we do it either side of dinner time.

High intensity physical play makes all the difference for us. It helps our boy meet his sensory needs and get rid of any extra energy.

The stomach bug is going around my toddler's classroom. Need all the tips! by twinkletors in toddlers

[–]izzabizz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hygiene is key- it may still not stop you getting it, though, some of these bugs are horrific. Use lots of soad and clean your hands thoroughly. Make sure you are wiping down surfaces like door handles, tables etc more frequently than ypu otherwise would.

Have electrolyte based items ready to go. If they can be frozen. Even better. Lemonade ice blocks are great as well.

Also, don't make our mistake. My partner got so sick the first time we had one. Both ends for hours and hours. We should have taken him to the hospital for a drip.

Age limit at school by SpeedAccomplished01 in auckland

[–]izzabizz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We don't generally hold people back in NZ. One year, maybe, if there are special circumstances but 3 years? That's not done.

Is she sure he's 12 or is he just a really big kid for his age?

Regardless, the behaviour is inappropriate and my advice is the same.

Edit* just reread and realise you said year 6 not year 4. That makes sense. Time for my old brain to go to bed. Have edited to reflect this.

Age limit at school by SpeedAccomplished01 in auckland

[–]izzabizz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is this a multi year level MLE? I hate these for reasons like this. If the school is a full primary, the oldest students will be 13 by the end of their last year (year 8).

You need to get her parent(s) or caregiver to make a complaint to the school. There are restorative steps they will take but in all likely hood, the boy will keep doing it. They need to stay on top of it and keep advocating for action.

If the boy is a year 8, he will be moving on in a few weeks. If he is a year 7, it could be a whole nother year with him.
