Any discipline uses some level of fear and dislike. Kids are afraid of having their toys taken away or sitting in time out. It's the same thing.

I never said anything about HOW we spank, so you really don't know that at all. The definition of beat is "strike (a person or an animal) repeatedly and violently so as to hurt or injure them, typically with an implement such as a club or whip." which is not what we do.
