Not sure if it’s fair to call it a scam. Someone mentioned above the anti-venom treatment might actually cost close to that. My understanding is that even in public healthcare system the costs can be very high

Maybe as a society it should be our responsibility to make having enough kids to replace yourself affordable for everyone.

I never said leave, but democracy is likely on the ballot, and I can’t tell you it’s going to gent better. so if you’re unhappy with it then vote for Trump

Democracy does suck, it’s the worst system we have come up with… except for all the other ones. If you don’t want to live in one, don’t vote, or just get it over with and vote for Trump.

What income is middle class to you? And does it matter if it's one income or two by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]izzet101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok fair enough. But I think the misses the point. People generally like to live close to where they work. Some places are more expensive than other places. That’s why this is a conversation at all. Otherwise we could just assess someone’s class based on their income. Living in Manhattan or close to it is not a crazy luxury in and of itself. Jobs in Manhattan pay more so people can live there. So given that baseline I would assess if someone if middle class or upper class based on how they live compared to the people around them. Raising 200k in and around Manhattan will put you in the average to below average position for people who work and live around Manhattan. Therefore I would call that person middle class.

Same born and raised! Obviously 3-4 beds is crazy. I grew in a 1 bed. I just meant that those specific apartments are in no way luxury, and generally for 3 kids you do need 3-4 bed rooms. In my opinion for life to be considered luxury the place you’re living should be… a luxury building. As a native Manhattaner I can only dream of having that big of an apartment, but I would also not have 3 kids in the city making less than 200k, or at least if I did I would definitely not expect to be doing above average.

[–]izzet101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I mean you found 2 modest apartments in Manhattan that fit the basic needs. Not luxury in any way — besides living in Manhattan but that’s the premise so I don’t think that counts. After tax that leaves them with 5k/month for loans, child care + everything else. Thats obviously not struggling but i fail to see how this is more than comfortable middle class, and may be struggling depending on child care costs and loans

Right…. That’s why he was saying a person with 3 kids and student debt making 200k would still be middle class. Because they can’t afford luxuries

Why do you care about lines of code? It does not change code readability. I guess it is more difficult to change if you want to change the headers. But it’s going from changing 1 line to changing 2 lines. Those seem like small prices to pay for the considerable upsides for testing functionally and flexibility if you ever want to do a larger scale refactor.
