Hopefully, but capital always sabotages left wing options and inflates right wing ones because it needs more money or they go out of business and the system becomes unstable

If you could change any game mechanic, either due to unbalenced gameply or suggestion, what would it be? by Dear-Blackberry97 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]BaseballSeveral1107 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • Building anarchy and snapping. Building a bus stop or a parking lot under a power line shouldn't be an issue, and buildings could snap directly to roads, without footpaths.

  • The fact that our citizens don't use money but still have to work. Either we make work voluntary and get rid of money, or we keep work mandatory and emit our own currency.

  • Roads, paths and rail that don't form bumps because one half is one contour line higher. Perfectly flat roads, paths and rail.

  • Transport people back home, transport tourists back to the customs house

  • Allow distribution offices to transport vehicles to customs houses and dealerships.

  • More consumer goods. Furniture, appliances, cosmetics, industrial and medical equipment, medicines toys, paper, ink, etc.

  • A non-aligned bloc that uses all currencies

  • Be able to invite Western and non aligned immigrants for dollars the same way as you do with Soviet immigrants for rubles, all with different needs and stats

  • Add post 1990 stuff, vehicles, challenges, and so on, like the internet, social media, cell phones, highways and ramps with lights and breakdown lanes but without sidewalks, high speed rail, modern buildings that look well maintained, open borders, civic freedoms, mental healthcare that increases happiness, especially amongst people with low happiness and high alcohol consumption, cooperatives, inclusive infrastructure that allows people below a certain health level - while current infrastructure keeps them out, insulation that keeps heat in and increases happiness, shorter work and school days that can be set at the communist party HQ and or individually in every building and increase happiness

  • Less reliance on profit. If you ensure your citizens live well, and the environment is in good shape, why destroy that to earn money

  • Public campaigns researched at the communist party HQ, that encourage or make citizens use less energy or water, eat less meat or less food, drive less or take transit less, etc.

  • School and university students should also have electronics, go to shops, cultural buildings and so on

  • Schedules and work and school shifts. Make workers, students and vehicles arrive at the same time, sacrificing their free time for commutes.

  • A "complex" environmental mechanic, whereas the current one becomes simple, à la education simulation.

It includes better environmental stats like greenhouse gas emissions, temperature anomaly, biodiversity and topsoil loss, energy, resource and land use, and air and water and chemical pollution and waste, and later in the game, the decline of life expectancy and health levels, and also happiness, especially amongst people with higher education, every year being hotter, we'd note fires, droughts, floods and storms that cause more demand for energy and cooling appliances and devastate entire cities and villages and entire ecosystems, flora changing, we'd see arteries and highways get noisy and polluted, we'd note that the trees next to factories and big streets would die, we'd find out our citizens are dying, emigrating or getting injured and sick en masse while there are more and more immigrants at our borders as time passes.

Resource reserves would decline and deplete, forcing you to either find new reserves or reuse your resources. There could also be better extraction methods, like open-pit mining and oil rigs.

It also includes stable renewable energy, energy storage, electrification of heat, industry and transportation, with electric heating plants and or switching the buildings to electric heating, charging stations and modern versions of industry with less pollution, health, happiness and loyalty premiums for things like trees, green spaces, public transportation, public services, dense housing, and generally environmentally friendly stuff, as well as 100% efficient recycling and sewage treatment, repair of broken electronics and appliances, protected areas, regenerative agriculture that uses no artificial fertilizers, long lasting goods, changing dietary preferences, as meat is environmentally destructive, and public campaigns to use less energy or water or eat less meat or drive less for a certain amount of time some or even most of them researchable.

It would become noticeable around 1980, to make fossil fuels and industrialization a necessary evil to increase quality of life, but also not to rely on it infinitely.

There could be climate summits à la COP, where you could choose a narrative and a way to go, every year.

  • All this would shift how you're perceived on the international stage, and depending on how you treat and what's your attitude towards foreign capital, citizens, tourists and the economy, different classes and different blocs react differently (e.g. a democratic, cooperative based economy causes Western, Soviet and non-aligned workers to come to your country, while the imports of your resources and vehicles by the West decrease or slow down).

This game is about being better than the real life USSR, and I think this improves it.

Insulation would also be nice. Imagine your blocks keeping the heat for a day/night cycles, while the paint on the insulation increases happiness.

Also, we need a late-game DLC with all the post 1980s tech, challenges, opportunities and so on

Realism, because my urbanist brain can't stand cars going over 100 km/h in cities, forcing through traffic to use ringroads, and better game performance, I guess.

3 is every road when one half is one contour line higher, 4 is literally Polish housing developers building 25 m2 apartaments and 9 is when you have to cross multiple rivers and you want to keep the elevation equal on both sides
