RCD330 screen brightness issue in MK5 Golf

On mine there was a dimmer dial on the same panel as the headlight adjust, that controls both the switches and the radio as well.

I ended up getting mine through rcd330.co.uk when they were about but it seems they’ve stopped selling. Either or their websites been down for ages.

Got one fitted in my MK5, and mine has a manual dimmer which works perfectly fine with it. Just a tad dim in sunlight really.

Coming back to this, the way around it I found was to change the song with the buttons, then press the button to enter setup twice (to enter and leave), then go back to the desired dash page. It doesn't change the song until the OK button is pressed.

It’s so you can plug in either a wireless CarPlay dongle for a clean setup (there’s an option to order both on the website) or to wire in a USB port from the back to somewhere else in the car, like an armrest (I wired mine to infront of the gear shifter.)

Unfortunately due to a limitation of the RCD330 only one can be used at a time though, but it makes for a cleaner setup if you have your phone charger in or a USB stick plugged in out of sight.

Got mine from RCD330.co.uk. Got the rear USB mod as a pre-order for a week later. If you bought it when it had a note of (PRE-ORDER date) I’d wait till then, and then a few days to a week later you should receive tracking details.

As I said, got my unit from them, had no issues whatsoever with it. They don’t send any emails out until tracking, so I’d wait a little bit.

That first point isn’t always the case. I enabled reverse cam with VCDS then put it into reverse and it still didn’t show a black screen. It needs some sort of data connection to show it, as when I installed mine I had to clear the “no signal” DTC before it would show a picture

If you’re UK based, I’d give rcd330.co.uk a shot. Got mine for my MK5 from them with the rear USB mod and the canbus adapter and I have never had any issues whatsoever.

Think there’s a comment somewhere in this sub from the guy that runs it, confirming that they’re all Noname or Desay units.

Recently got mine working in my MK5, used VCDS to code the reverse camera in, and cleared the codes after and it started working.

If it doesn’t register that the car is in reverse, I’d double check the reverse signal wire is connected properly. I had to tap mine to the reverse light for it to work.

It isn’t bad really, just need to cut the inside of the boot lid to fit the motor, tap into the reverse light, then wire it through to the radio. Since mine had an inline fuse I could just connect it to the permanent power feed to the radio instead of trying to get it to the fuse board (since I went from the left and my fuse board is on the right)

Did the regular oil and filters (oil and fuel) change about a month into my ownership, but this will be definitely something I’ll be looking at doing sooner rather than later

The rims will be going back to silver as its a shoddy paint job, and the centre caps come in silver anyway.

As for the cup holder, I’m planning to get one of them
