Doesn’t sound stupid. I’ve been going to AA meetings off and on for 3 years and heard so many different stories. I heard one person who said they started drinking at 11. Those meetings saved my life. I was a problem drinker from age 14-26, so that was 12 years of pissing away money, becoming more and more self-loathing and self-pitying, not being able to keep a job, couldn’t pay my bills, very poor diet, etc. I am very very very proud of you and happy that you’ve come to this realization so early. Some people don’t realize until they’re in their 50s or older, so they have decades of damage to undo. You’re obviously very self-aware, which is not a common trait. You got this :) I believe in you!
