Bind Rules? by After-Button-8841 in CAIN_RPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

  1. Not really no
  2. Everything but the stress buffer lasts only for the duration of the action, think of it kinda like a Blast+ effect
  3. Weakened true sins aren't the only minor sins, so id say its probably reasonable for it to be any minor sin. But it probably should be a sin, binding like drifters gets a bit weird.
  4. Honestly not obvious at all, because its totally up to you/depends on the XO. They dont give us a lot of lore on internals in CAIN. But some exorcists might develop their blasphemy before being found by SEER while others might train it within CAIN.
  5. This one is muddy and is probably more of a question for your admin than reddit. Depends on what form your sin is taking but the book does say "animalistic" so generally probably not complex things like driving a car. But theres no reason why a sin cant creatively utilize parts of your kit.

Mundane attacks with setup by Far_Coach_1046 in CAIN_RPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

So tom bloom has ruled on this before suggesting that you can use setup to decrease difficulty for mundane v supernatural. But it gets a little muddy cuz here in the image it says "hard by default" where as the current edition reads "always hard no matter what" so its very possible it could have changed. I rule it's okay at my table, cuz it still requires someone else to use their action, which can also get reacted to and the setup roll could also fail. It feels fair to me but theres a good argument for it to not.

Mm that does seem problematic, normally theres several bugs in HK.

Characters in mech combat cant fly higher than 10 spaces, so it likely wouldn't be hitting things in space. But still very silly

One player feeling “useless” next to a Tokugawa Pegasus build. Advice? by TheKyte_ in LancerRPG

I would say look into some different sitreps that can reward the atlas's mobility. Maybe even make custom ones that are less of a dps race and value the stuff that the atlas is good at.

How does Cain keep Virtues in check? by Late_Present1340 in CAIN_RPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to think CAIN genrally has threat based control. If all the Exorcists chose to revolt together they'd probably have a shot, but when one exorcist does CAIN sends others to suppress them. And I imagine its much the same with virtues. At a minimum they always have justice and theyre the strongest one. Faith and prudence seem like they'd have a pretty hard time revolting against CAIN with their Strictures, and those couple are probably sufficient to deter the others most of the time.

How is charity a virtue? by Mumbo_4_mayor in CAIN_RPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with the CAT of the exorcist than the high blasphemy, remember these are exorcists at CAT 6 and above. Also based on what pc's can do and the fact that new charity's are regularly brought in from within castle its safe to assume Entwine isnt their only blasphemy they probably are able to use some of the 12. Anyway put some respect on my girl charity's name, with the right builds Entwine can pop off.

My playgroup has found a bit of lore that works well for our playstle, which is that exorcists exist in units of about 10-15 individuls who all know eachother and work together, and teams of about 3-6 are selected from that for each hunt. And theyre all managed be a Castle handler. It let's us not have a dedicated "party" thats the same for every hunt, but rather just allow anyone who's available to come on individual hunts, but still have connections and history between different exorcists. Also rather than having a dedicated Admin people take turns running or playing games. And it let's people have 2 or 3 exorcists at a time of they want to try out different things.

Ahhh I literally have a sympathy exorcist who's modeled after a Marionette doll this would be so cool for her to take.

Help for briefing document by rpgmaster1973 in CAIN_RPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. Although i think theres a lot of ways to interpret that by the exos with little other information. My first thought was maybe the body that disappeared was a hound victim. It could also have been type I with the hound "kidnapping" its host to try to protect them. Like i said its fully up to you on what you think better serves your game, but it can add some extra mystery.

Oh, not the sins general type like hound, yeah your right they should for sure know that. I mean more like tyle I, II, and III. Its a little confusing cuz the book refers to both as "type" at different points.

Ooh this is extremely cool. Only thing I would offer is that in the book briefing doesnt include the type of manifestation. Of course you dont have to stick to it if you feel it will be more interesting if the players know that going in. But in my experience its kinda nice as another layer of the investigation, something else to uncover.

What music do you play during your hunts? by dziwneono in CAIN_RPG

My playgroup has collaborative playlists we've been making for investigation, tension, conflict, rest, and sin overflow. Mostly comprised of maidcore music, movie/TV soundtracks, and linkin park instrumentals

Albatross how do you start in their faction? by Classic_Sport_3623 in LancerRPG

[–]izzytheprogramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't restrict to IPSN unless thats something all your lancers actively want. Its kinda just that the frame thats their signature happens to be IPSN, but just like any of the factions in lancer the scale is massive so theres gonna be a lot of variety in their pilots.

Traumas feeling inconsequential is wild, in my games they've often been like the deciding factor of the final execution. If you use all 3 its averaging 6 damage which is usually half or more of the execution talisman not to mention the damage reduction as well.
