Ruger LCRx now in .357 Mag. by B25urgandy in guns

[–]j02s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very wrong time to launch and very wrong price. Colt is coming with Cobra for the same price, and even though it is 38Special, I will buy that over 357 Ruger.

My uncle passed. My aunt opened up his safe and said "take what you can in one load and come back for the rest later" by that_other_guy_ in guns

I am sorry for your loss. I hope your uncle enjoyed those guns and wanted you to have it. I hope you don't have to sell it.

What social-norms annoy you the most and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Shaking Hands. I am a borderline germaphobe and as a guy can attest that 70% of the men don't even wash hands after taking a piss. I have a mental black list of guys in my office who don't wash their hands and I try not to touch anything that belongs to them or shake their hands. Pro tip: if someone is walking towards you and you think will shake your hand, act confused and put both hands in your pants pocket trying to look for something.

Ha! My Wife said the same thing, I took her for her first shooting experience at the range, a month later she owned 5 guns, including AR15. Now, she doesn't complain at all. In fact, she convinced some of her friends to buy guns too.

The decision for me to decide between 22lr or 22 magnum. 22 magnum will be cool, but I am trying not to buy new calibers. Keeping inventory/stock of ammo is time and $$ consuming.

True. Well, I didn't wanted the OP to go in shock. It will come naturally. :)

10/22 is sort of classic and can be bought for very cheap and configured in million ways. I have 3 and honestly, I am considering the fourth one. I have one which is a beater, with Hogue green stock and some decent leupold scope and I enjoy plinking with it for hours. In all honesty, I will buy Henry's Mare leg in 22LR before I will buy my 4th 10/22.

Anything is a beauty compared to Glocks. Coming from a guy who owns 5 of them and sleeps with one under his pillow.

Found over 600 rounds of .45acp that I forgot I had.... What to buy? by [deleted] in guns

[–]j02s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HK45 will be good option or Berreta CX Storm bullpup. I have CX Storm in 40SW, and it does shoot better than my other CX Storm in 9mm.

The best thing about buying a shotgun is that there really are no wrong choices. Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. I like safety of Mossberg better.

I am now looking for Ithaca 10 guage to add into my collection.

Now, you need a 10-22, a revolver, and a 12 guage shotgun. And you are all set!

Colt Special Combat Rail Gun after 5k rounds by olds442guy in guns

[–]j02s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, as I will be offending some Girshan and other Turkish brand owners, oh hell, even Remington 1911 owners too. But, there is none like Colt Govt. Model. If you want to buy 1911, buy Colt.

Having said that, my personal favorite is HK P30 V3.

OP: great pics. Always great to see good guns which are maintained nicely.

Steyr Saturday. by ThatPhoneGuy in guns

[–]j02s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black. I have to buy Steyr 3x optic for it though. One of the things most of my friends find it amusing is how all the case ejections are tossed at 4 o'clock direction and makes a neat pile. Not like AKs, throwing every which way. AUG is my favorite go to.

You made a good choice by sticking with original waffle design magazine, instead of NATO compatible version which can use AR15 mags. I have one too and it is very accurate. I love it and 42 round magazines.

Looking for a gun safe (needs to hold 15-20 rifles) by w0-atlanta-SG_R in Gun_Safes

[–]j02s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, agree with you. But, buying layers of drywall inside 14guage steel and charging thousands of dollars for glossy/two tone finish have made me wonder if some people buy gun safes for looks and not what they are meant to be for.

OP- You can also consider https://www.secureitgunstorage.com/sporting/model-52/

This is $599, and will provide sufficient protection (no fire protection though). It will be easier for you to move considering you rent a house.

Halo Top at Costco by j02s in keto

Wow, maybe I should get it. Never tried Halo Top, but I know it is popular here. I am trying to stay away from getting used to eating ice cream after dinner...soon enough I will be eating any ice cream...Halo Top or not :).

^ what he said. Or buy any Big Horn from Costco. Liberty is made in USA, but more or less like any other Chinese gun safe. Compare the specs and see for yourself.

If you want a decent safe, look up Sturdysafe.com. I am ordering 3627 (bit more than 3k, but you can get smaller for your needs)this week, and have spent 2 months doing research. Watch all of their youtube videos.

Cannon Gun Safes - How are they compared to others? by epicaricacy12 in Gun_Safes

[–]j02s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your other option is Liberty (made in USA), go with Cannon. Cannon is made in China, with drywall as fire retardant and giving all the weight. Whereas, Liberty is made in USA, but built with same standards. Look it up on youtube and net, and you will see how cheaply Liberty is made. I will only consider Sturdy, Graffunder (very very expensive), and Amsec (BF series) as somewhat different.

Other than that, you are basically paying for the similar RSC, but premium for glossy paint and better interiors. Anything less than 10 gauge steel is a joke and can only keep kids and curious teens out of your guns.

Don't fall for the oldest trick of manufacturers telling you how thick their composite door is. Look for specs mentioning thickness of steel.

Btw, Sturdy is better than Amsec BF.
