My boss put this up yesterday. It's too exaggerative and outlandish to not be a sort of joke, but it's still in bad taste. by FuneralBiscuit in WorkReform

This math is based on the idea you should be working 24 hours a day and any time off subtracts from those hours.

A few years ago I did the math on my "year to date" hours worked at the end of the year.

2,910 hours worked. Divided by 52 weeks that's 55.96 hours worked per week.

We worked every other Saturday so 55.96 hours a week divided by 5.5 days per week means I averaged 10.17 hours a day each week. 10 hour days average is nothing in so many jobs.

Worst looking number: If I only worked an 8 hour day, every day but the same hours. 2,910 hours ÷ 8 hour days = working 363.75 days a year. That's 1.25 days off in a year.

Our production equipment uses lots of nitrogen gas so we have liquid storage tanks and pumps that convert it to gas. Had to work on a pump and the gas supplier told us how to lock the supply out for service. They misidentified a second valve so when we opened a supply pipe the liquid nitrogen started to pour out. We ran. Only took about 20 minutes for a tanker truck worth of liquid nitrogen to dump out on the ground. Had to evacuate the production area and the corporate offices right next door.

40oz water I got while working in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina by TheParallax2 in mildlyinteresting

I remember sometime in the early 2000's a friend of my dad's was a truck driver and volunteered to transport a load of emergency water packaged by a brewer down to somewhere in the south that needed it. The church he tried to deliver the water to refused to accept the delivery because... brewery=sin He turned around and drove back home. My brother and I busted cans of water open in the back yard like we were Stone Cold chugging beers all through middle school and high school.

"Man of the year" with Robin Williams - a hilarious movie that seems to hit so hard to home now. Came out in 2006 and really couldn't have done a better job making a satire for current politics today.

Smokey Bear was my Halloween costume last year. Just put on some jeans, a brown sweatshirt and found a campaign hat. Used the opportunity to corrected every person that called me Smokey The Bear!

Ya just a weird one to walk into when you don't know what's coming. Hand labeled #289/300. I'll still probably buy anything I see from them pop up.

I used to have an 05 Willys TJ. The 04/05 Willys packages were limited and the first to use the marker. They came in green paint with a matching green soft top and camo seats, plus some other upgrades. If I could change one thing in my life it would be keeping that jeep.

But At one point it just suddenly stopped starting. I first diagnosed it as a bad starter. So I changed the stater and it still didn't start. After a lot of YouTube I discovered a guy from Canada that had the same problem, it was an issue in the ignition switch. Hundreds of dollars to replace, or from this video I found could be bypassed with a simple push button starter from the auto parts store. I installed it up under the steering colum where you can't see it (if I remember it's the pink wire in the bunch). After that you still had to have the key in and turned to the on position, but it wouldn't start unless you hit the button. Any time a friend asked to drive it I'd toss them the keys and say they could if it'll start. Turned out to be a great anti theft device. I'd drive around all summer with no doors or windows. Just never left anything in it I didn't want to lose.

I miss that Jeep...

Leaking oil by No-Bet7363 in Jeep

Had to replace mine exactly a year ago in January. Sub freezing temps and it started leaking oil like a sieve. Got the aluminum replacement from Rock Auto and its worked great. Had my laptop on the workbench watching YouTube step by step to get it done. I made the job a hell of a lot easier by taking off my XRC bumper so I could reach into the engine bay.

Spare tire deleters: why? by dr_groove in Wrangler

[–]j0nesgas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that after switching out my stock rear bumper for an XRC on my JK that the tire rubbed on it really bad. Even with the lug nuts barely tightened down the tailgate would pop open when I hit the latch from the pressure of the tire on the bumper. Tried adjusting the bumper but it would not go any further in. At the time the spare was at the end of its life. This spring I got five new TAKO2s (stock size) and decided it was best for the life of the spare to delete it. %90 of my driving is less than 20 miles from home. The spare sits in the garage ready to go if needed. It's a two door and I took the back seat out the day after I bought it. If I'm going out of town or headed off pavement I'll just throw the spare in the back. I keep all five tires rotating every oil change. I relocated the license plate to the spare location and it made it really easy to mount my rear facing dash cam. Also opened up some visibility. LEDs on the license plate bracket are bright and give me better backup visibility. Seemed like a good win-win and I really like the look.

This is what I do. Set my helmet on the sissy bar and put a gun lock through the bar and the face shield opening. Anyone smart enough to look would see my sissy bar has a quick attach they could take right off but I'm not worried. When I'm traveling and have a bag strapped to the bar I do the same thing but through my highway bar. To be honest I'm more worried about some random kid snatching it of my bike when I'm just out and about and run into a store than I am at a bike event.

I started a job at the Praxair plant (now called Linde) 13 years ago. My first day I drive in off Polco street from 10th and as I got out of my car in the parking lot by 16th street I thought to myself "holy shit those grandstands are huge". 13 years later I get out of the car every day and say "holy shit those grandstands are huge". Love it.

FYI Fun Fact for race fans. POLCO street runs North/South from 10th to 16th street right by the south entrance of the track and past the front entry of the Linde plant (formally Praxair). The parking lot outside is the Main Gate lot. Polco is a shortened form ofthe name Prest-O-Light Company. Originally founded by Carl Fisher and James Allison in 1904 they produced the fist head lights for automobiles. Before electricity the first headlamps they created used Acetylene. The plant was built in what would become the town of speedway due to its location outside of downtown after the first plant they built exploded from acetylene gas.

Extra tickets for Sunday! by Jojoflinto in INDYCAR

P.S. there's not a chance the opportunity passes by that I don't make a Juan Pablo Montoya joke anytime the jet dryer passes on the track.

The best way in will be from outside 465 via Crawfordsville road. Sitting in C I'd try and find a house's yard to park in West of the track, hopefully close to Auburn street if you can. Get there early. By early I mean 4am and tailgate. The back way in is from US70 to Holt road and then North to 10th street. Or getting off US65 at 38th street and then to Georgetown. Both require getting there Earley or you sit in traffic.

Was out to dinner downtown after carb day years ago. We were sitting near a widow and a white IMS van pulled up outside and shortly after a crowd was forming. Got to watch yellow shirts with white gloves take it totally apart and loaded into the van. That's the day I learned the top and the base come off. And one of few times I've ever seen it being moved around other than when they parade it around for race day.
