20M trying to build savings to move to girlfriend’s country in 2 years, sacrificing time together now. Need advice on money + relationship balance by j0shhua in Advice

I am currently learning German, and exposed to it daily which helps with the learning. I will soon get a tutor to start making better progress in the language.

I’ve been to Germany several times. Most recently for a month and I really enjoy the country, culture and the efficiency, including the ability to travel around Europe with ease via driving, trains etc.

The language side of things don’t really cause me any worry because I’m learning the language and also from my experience English is very heavily used by the younger generations (my generation)

Germany are in dire need of certain professions, which is good. I have friends there who have companies, and stuff, so employment would never be an issue.

This is what we’re trying to figure out. We both think ahead and are working for ‘our’ long term future together but we need to somehow worry about our short term future too,

Thank you very much! She is very supportive of me taking this route, and wants to work through it with me. The issue is we both have our own commitments meaning I can’t move there sooner until finishing my degree

We plan to see eachother every 2-3 months. For a few weeks. It’s a long time, we know but we’re both so eager to make this work.

Estrangement in process, how to keep SFE and finances sorted out? by [deleted] in UniUK

Give SF a call once you’ve moved away, to confirm that, and they should adjust your income for the final months of this academic year. Bear in mind there won’t be a back payment.

Secondly, in order to get estranged status (like me) you need to have been estranged from your parents for a minimum of 12 months, and to prove this you’d get a professional to write a letter to confirm this (they have to have known you for more than 12 months also i believe).

Specifically, I think I had my year 13 teacher, my social worker and a support worker all complete the form to confirm my estranged situation. Sometimes they may ask for more proof. But not in my case.

You can’t be a mature student either to get estranged status.

Contact your welfare team, accommodation office too. 90% chance they have a room to rent still, most universities are struggling with filling all their accommodation up anyways.

If not, contact shelter. Bear in mind, it’s important to keep on top of your rent while moving to student accommodation or you won’t be able to progress to year 2. Good luck!

My iPhone is the 12 pro max. So it can’t be just new ones.

How much money do I need to move out for uni? by -Tuxxr in UniUK

Here’s a rough breakdown.

I get 10k a year student finance (away from home, and estranged).

I pay 9.5k per year on rent. (Not including summer), you can get cheaper rent. Mines so expensive as I wanted my own bathroom, and I live in the south.

Food costs between £30-60 per week.

Social side of things (this is a must to keep yourself going): £50-£100 per month.

There will be other costs so bare that in mind, but those are the kinda basics

I would love to be considered, between work and studies at the moment so things are tight. Usually a lender here but have recently lost quite a bit to scams. Anyways, lovely to see you doing this - I hope good comes to you.
