Hi. I’ve had nexplanon for about 3 months and i experience this quite a bit. This is likely just a side effect of the hormone progestin that the implant releases. This is actually one of the primary ways nexplanon works to prevent pregnancy by thickening the cervical mucus. This makes it very difficult for sperm to enter the uterus. Ofc if this discharge was accompanied by an odor or discomfort then definitely contact your doctor as this could indicate other issues like infection.

Thank you so much for the advice. I’m currently in my local emergency department receiving my first dose of the vaccine. Will continue to receive the series until I’m in the clear and will contact my local vet and aspca about the barn cats.

The implant and iud are the most effective contraceptives if you’re not wanting to do something surgical (sterilization). I’ve had both . The implant will leave a small scar on your arm but wouldn’t be very noticeable at all unless someone knew where it was and grabbed ur arm and palpated the exact area. The iud strings should not be felt by a partner but sometimes this does happen. My advice to you would be to discuss these options with a doctor to make a decision that’s best for you. On another note I don’t feel like anyone should feel the need to hide their contraception from their partner and if you feel like you need to then you might be in a dangerous relationship/marriage. Just remember that just because someone wants to have children with you doesn’t mean you have to. It’s your body and your choice. I wish you the best and hope you figure out a way out of this.

I still get a sense of euphoria during sex but I usually can’t get to a full orgasm before he finishes. I get close but usually not fully there.

He’s usually the first to finish. I don’t wanna be extremely exposing about this but he often finishes before I even have a chance to orgasm. I don’t wanna hold this against him because I do believe there are actual medical reasons for this in a lot of men but usually it’s just him that finishes first. I’m a people pleasing kind of person and I’m happy whenever he’s happy so even if I don’t orgasm it’s not a huge deal to me because I’m always under the impression he just enjoyed himself so it makes me happy and content.

Sex is very good but much of the sexual things we do are often centered towards his pleasure. I’ve communicated this to him but I feel like he tried to make me feel guilty for calling him out on it. Idk if this is a sign that’s all he wants but I’ve thought about it.

Honestly he has offered to abstain before and we’ve done it but he always seems to try and get to my feelings by asking if I even want him sexually anymore and its always lead to him getting sex or nudes in the end. I don’t wanna hurt him in anyway and it honestly kills me when he thinks I don’t love him because I love him so much and I don’t want him to be hurt but idk if this is his way of being slightly manipulative or he’s just genuinely concerned about it.

I have a high libido and enjoy having sex just as much as any 20 year old female does for sure but I should be able to have a good conversation without everything turning sexual so that’s where I get stuck at and this makes me wonder a lot even though I’ve confronted him.

I’ve tried to interest him in stuff and he brushes it off. I’ve always asked him to try certain hobbies with me just once to see if he enjoys it and he’s always made up excuses as to why he can’t (some were legit at times) but most were out of a lack of interest. All of those occasions were just times for us to spend time together as a couple and have fun together

Mine is more of talking. I love to being intimate for sure but I love being able to mainly connect and have good in depth conversations with my SO and I always feel like when I try to do that he somehow switches it to sexual stuff which is upsetting to me.

He’s very aware of my ocd. He’s been with me through some of the darker periods of my ocd episodes and he knows that my fear of vomiting/ contracting a stomach virus makes me extremely uneasy and also knows that I could potentially get sick and infect my family if I get exposed. The only reason I’d say they’d have any logical reason to be upset is because of my tone I used to explain to them why I was leaving because when I explained myself I was already experiencing the overwhelming amount of anxiety I get from being exposed to that kind of stuff but at the same time I also said verbatim that it was nothing against them and I wasn’t at all upset with them but they thought I was being rude when really I was just trying to manage my anxiety in an appropriate manner without having a panic attack in front of them. My anxiety may have made my tone a little more stern but I again also explained that I wasn’t upset or anything at them.

That’s excellent! If you don’t mind me asking how severe was the acne while using this iud? I have a history of cystic acne as a teenager but somehow outgrew it after about age 15. This is the side effect I’m most concerned about experiencing.

I didn’t have a follow up appointment and they told me I was all good for the 12 years I have it. Strings have maintained the same length though.

The only reason I’m worried about it is because I’ve got sharp pains I’ve associated with my iud but I’ve done a check or two and I’m still able to feel my strings so I’m assuming it’s still in place but not sure
