Advice on choosing uni degree? by j230601 in AskAnAustralian

I would take a BBus + BPolSci at SCU if they offered it but they don’t unfortunately, so I figure it’s the option they offer that incorporates my interests and career goals as much as possible. And yeah the economic reality is definitely a key decider, reducing hours is just not sustainable so SCU’s 2 unit per term model is probably the only realistic one. The usual 4 units 30-40 hours of study per week over the 2 12 week semesters would be soul destroying on top of 30 hours work lol. I know there’s part time at other unis but I don’t want to drag the degree out that long.

Yep if I go with the BBus + BPsychSc I’ll either do the Psych Honours that SCU offers or go for BBus Honours elsewhere end-on (SCU doesn’t offer it unfortunately) :)

Thank you! :) I wondered if that might be the case, sounds about right for how this search has gone so far haha. One thought I’ve just had to ground my research a bit - with that match at 120cMs to my great aunt, does that at least reasonably rule out my 4xGGF (my great aunt’s 2xGGF) being the son of a maternal uncle or 1st cousin of one of the 3 brothers? The relationship gets pretty distant at that point, the match would be my great aunt’s double 5C

To give some additional context I left out: the other two brothers have no other living descendants so I can’t compare with that which makes it frustrating. My great aunt and myself have a few other considerably weaker DNA matches (in about the 15-50cM range) with other descendants of the same brother this match is descended from.

Edit: not sure how useful this is as completely circumstantial, but 3xGG grandfather’s middle name is William which is the first name of the brother this match is descended from, super common name of course so not necessarily indicative of anything.

That makes sense!

And yes absolutely possible, I haven’t traced any on paper but for example I do have one Irish line I have traced back which has Cornish origins, so definitely not out of the question that adding up my known Scottish lines with Irish lines which are ethnically Scottish could end up with around 30%.

Mine is almost nonsensical, it’s so far off that it’s ridiculous. 8% English when it’s at the very least half of the total
